I don't need any new comics; I already have enough toilet paper.

Toronto still has a good amount of comic shops and healthy competitive pricing, but one thing I've noticed is that the surrounding suburban areas and bedroom communities has less and less of them than the height of the nineties boom.Comment

Not surprising. The ninety's boom was essentially a speculator boom; and once the bottom fell out most of the purchasers moved on. ("You mean all 1.5 million copies of my seven cover comic aren't gonna be worth ANYTHNG?!?!") We had no less than seven shops at the time. Seven shops; for probably around 300 collectors. Now we have two.

I am within ten minutes of 6 comic shops, one Town having four of them.
Granted, two of them are operating solely because their Daddy owns the building and are pretty much golden examples of how not to run a business ( I haven't set foot in one store for 16 years). The others however are tidy little businesses supplementing their business with gaming, used books and cards.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

There are two in my town of 60,000 people. There used to be three. I drive about 30 minutes, however, and go to another one in another town twice a month because I like them better and would rather give them my money.--

I think the main growth is in the bookstore market and particularly the manga. I know there are many Anime/Manga stores out there that don't really look and smell like the old school comic stores.Comment
