Major DC Character To Be Outed As Gay

A much better example of a well written Northstar story is John Byrne's two issues of Alpha Flight where he pretty much said it without saying it. As a kid it went totally over my head, and it was more about making Northstar a much more sympathetic and complex character than just being the team's jerk and primary source of conflict. It painted him as an "outsider" in a very relatable way.

This was the beauty of Alpha Flights initial innovative format of essentially solo stories that first year.

He's been really well written since rejoining the x-men a few years back, in Matt Fraction's run on X-men (that also introduced his boyfriend)

Marvel has also traditionally treated superhero weddings as "events", why should this be any different?

Just wanted to go on record by saying I had no problem with Northstar being outed as gay, since his original creator meant to do the same, but couldn't. It was just handled pretty silly.

Still, it is better than DC just randomly picking a character to "make" gay to grab headlines.

Courtney Simmons, senior vice president of publicity at DC says the character is "major," "iconic" and "male".

Scott Snyder reasserted that "a character not seen since the relaunch will come out as gay."

Why would anyone choose to be a clone of an artist that, without question, is among the worst five pencillers ever to put graphite to page?

Because when Editors are looking to sell books, whomever is the hottest artist is the one they want their stable of artist to clone.......

Liefield was cloning McFarlane's itchy scratchy style and layouts. then Jim Lee became big and everyone was a clone of him. It always happens. when Kirby left Marvel, Marvel quickly found clones until another artist like John Buscema became the main guy and then they found artist to clone him.

Insecure Artist do it thinking they will be more marketable to find work....but in fact it just being you goes a long way......

*DING!* Right answer! Although it doesn't forgive the audience: they clone the top guy 'cos they know it'll sell. The downside of things like nostalgia, brand loyalty and rabid fandom is an endless sluice of mediocre entertainment.

....and it applies to ALL kinda of entertainment. It's not a coincidence we've had ten years of "vampires whine about their girlfriends" books, movies and tv shows....

....and HE was a clone of Art Adams, who "borrowed" liberally from Chakyn.... it never ends.

Did they ever! Althought he upside to that is anyone wanting to make a CustoMego of any 70's Marvel character really only needs molds of a bald Conan and/or Thor head and you're halfway there.

Why not? They have already taken that character and chopped him up and stuffed him through a shredder. Why not make him gay? If DC wanted to make Captain Marvel any different then Superman this would be their golden ticket. (or modern bandwagon to jump on.)
Kill off any hope for any chance of a good writer ever claiming control of Cap and rescue him from the band last six years of crap DC has put him through.
I'm not homophobic or do I hate any gay people. I just think when your getting into sexuality of a character (especially a long running character like Captain Marvel) you really have run out of stuff to do with the guy.

Let's hope it isn't Captain Marvel. I still have my money on Dick, (Dick Grayson, Nightwing) as I said before.
