Remember when DC had previews within the comics...

This is the 1st one that comes to mind when I remember DC doing a preview within the comics:

And this one because it's one of my favorite DC Books:

One question though regarding the preview material...Was the art/story different or slightly different then the finished product of the released number 1 that would eventually come out? Looking at the little "Mini Covers" on the covers, they are definitely different...but the rest of the story? Was any of it different?
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    - "Isn't It A Pity"

Oh yeah!!! I remember those days really fondly!!! That was the first time we saw the New Teen Titans and I was tickled s**tless waiting for the book to come out! I think, sometimes, we would be better off without digital previews, etc, because then it would really give you something to look forward to!!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Yes the art/story was completely different than the #1. Think of these as #0 issues.

Wonder Woman (DC Comics Presents #41)
        Captain Carrot (New Teen Titans#16)
        Night Force (NTT #21)
Dial H for Hero (Legion #272)
        Amethyst (LSH #298)
Blue Devil (Fury of Firestorm #24)
        Atari Force (DCCP #53)

In addition they also did licensed ones for MOTU and M.A.SK. that were in multiple titles...

DC Comics Presents No. 26 is one of my all-time favorite comics. The first part of a cool cosmic arc by Jim Starlin in the main book and then the Teen Titans preview with Perez art.

Thanks for that list Anthony. Really liked Atari Force. Excellent Garcia Lopez art and a Star Warsy like story.

Loved those 16 page previews... I remember I'd buy any issue I saw that contained one.

Favourites were Arak, Masters of the Universe, New Teen Titans, and the revamped Wonder Woman.
                  Still have those.

Good memories of that time in comics.

The MOTU was what started me wondering about whether or not the stories were separate stories from what was actually printed in the number 1's that would eventually come out. I saw this auction for a page of original art for MOTU from that preview:

HE-MAN Masters of the Universe Preview DC Insert Page #6 by CURT SWAN Grail | eBay

Here are all of the comics that the MOTU preview was in:

                    Action Comics #537
                    All-Star Squadron #15
                    Arak, Son of Thunder #15
                    Batman #353
Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew #9
The Daring New Adventures of Supergirl #1
                    DC Comics Presents #51
                    The Fury of Firestorm #6
                    Justice League of America #208
                    The Legion of Super-Heroes vol. 2 #293
                    The New Teen Titans #25
                    Superman #377
                    Warlord #63
                    Wonder Woman #297

Here's another question...When DC does their archives/showcases do they reprint the preview stories as well?? If they are separate all original stories from the regular series I would assume that they are also included in the archives/showcases that have been printed so far by DC.

BTW, what's the deal with DC just printing a DC Showcase for The All Star Squadron??!!?? That should get a Hardcover treatment under the Archives banner in my opinion.
