I'm thinking of seeing it tomorrow since it's Mother's Day. Of course, then it might be filled with dad's and their kids. "It's your mother's day son, so we're going to the movies!" -

Compare Mexico, England, and Japan box office takes for the following superhero flicks:
The Dark Knight (2008) - International Box Office Results - Box Office Mojo
Iron Man (2008) - International Box Office Results - Box Office Mojo
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) - International Box Office Results - Box Office Mojo

The thing that makes the interrogation scene in CA:TFA work so well, besides being well written, is the deadpan delivery by Tommy Lee Jones. He has a whole lot of crazy behind his eyes and he controls it so well that it's frequently hard to draw a bead on whatever character he's playing, so I'm sure the Hydra flunkie he was questioning didn't know what the hell to make of him!Leave a comment:

The Avengers overseas box office take:
Its only major openings this weekend came in Russia and China, where it took first place with $17.9 million and $17.4 million, respectively. Neither of these are close to record-setting levels, though that shouldn't take away from how impressive they are either. Including Monday, the highest-grossing territories for The Avengers are the United Kingdom ($54 million), Mexico ($40.7 million), Brazil ($33.9 million), Australia ($33.2 million), and South Korea ($31.8 million). The only top tier market left to open is Japan, which will unleash The Avengers in August.
Around-the-World Roundup: 'Avengers' Dominates Again - Box Office Mojo
It seems like Mexico can compete with some First World countries in terms of movie theater going...nearing England's box office numbers...and more than larger countries such as Brazil, Russia...and China.
Go Mexican geeks...go!
And the U.K.!!
And then no doubt Japan will shatter both of them. Those poor b@stards have to wait until August 18th!!
Look at the interrogation scene from TDK compared to the one from
CA:TFA.
To me that sums up Marvel's movie superiority in a neat little nutshell.
A couple secondary characters that aren't even comicbook stalwarts
giving Batman and the Joker a run for their money.
Amazing.Leave a comment:

I hear rumors that the actor is going to come back as the Vision in the Avengers sequel.
I read he has signed on to be in Iron Man 3.
Heard any rumors on that?Last edited by Hector; May 10, '12, 3:28 PM.Leave a comment:

Cap was Cap. Evans nails the character. He's supposed to be serious. He has a sense of humor (he joked with Thor about being tired) but he's not an ironic, snarky hipster like Stark, and shouldn't be. I wouldn't want them to ever make Cap like Stark.
I was actually relieved that Evans got to portray the character as he established him in First Avenger. EVERYONE was in character. No small feat.
Chris
And yes, I too thought everybody else was in character from thier respected movies. Whedon did an amazing job!Last edited by Operation:Mego; May 10, '12, 4:14 PM.Leave a comment:

It was a fun flick...my fave is Downey as Iron Man...then Ruffalo as the Hulk...then Thor...I thought Captain America was the most boring of the main superhero bunch (he is too serious...but he did assert himself as the leader though).

The Black Widow is fine as heck...and Hawkeye was actually a nice surprise...he was pretty baddazz with that bow and arrow.
Nick Fury was fine.
Loki made a great villain...the actor plays him perfectly, lol.
P.S. I felt sad for the SHIELD agent who Loki killed...I forgot his name...but that was the saddest scene in the movie.Leave a comment:
