With all the talk and excitement around the Avengers movie. its hard to ignore the fact that both Jack Kirby and Don heck had a hand in creating these characters. Just acknowledging that fact. Romita Sr should also get a mention, as he created the modern Black Widow.

You know as I sat watching the movie the other day. I thought for a moment that Kirby and everyone that was involved in the Avengers creation, would have gotten such a kick if they were told back in the 60's that close to 50 years from now millions of people would flock and sit and thoroughly enjoy what was considered by many to be throw away entertainment......
I myself sat there still in disbelief that I was actually seeing The Avengers come to life....and that they got it right..... -
I caught thanks to several comic creators, and Heck was mentioned, along with Perez, Starlin and several others. I think there is a credit to Stan and Jack as creators as well? But I never caught this, so I'm not sure. It should have been big and up front, IMHO.

I'm hoping that with Joss Whedon being the comics fan that he is, perhaps there will be some extras on the Blu-ray release that delve into the origins of THE AVENGERS. Be nice if somebody, somewhere at some time actually interviewed Lee, Kirby and company about the early MARVEL books, including THE AVENGERS...sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment
