I was originally going to put 500, but I don't want a second mortgage.

I'm STILL keeping my fingers crossed for at least a 200 million dollar opening weekend....
I still have hope for a $250 - $300 million, and here are my reasons why:

    1. Pre-release audience tracking showed that interest for the film was "incredibly strong", with interest very high among men and strong among women.

    2. The Avengers also topped Fandango's survey of 'Most Anticipated Summer Movies' with 31% among men and placed second behind Snow White and the Huntsman with 16% among women.

    3. North American ticket presales during the week before release exceeded those of Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Thor combined during the same period, by over 150%!!

    4. It won the NewNowNextAwards Next Must-See Movie award.

    5. I'm going to see this at least 100 times!!!

Same here...my wife and my sister would both like to be the meat in a superhero sandwich with those two.

I'm going to preorder tickets to the midnight show at Tinseltown's shiny, new XD Auditorium for me and MIB41 today, Chris. I don't want to take a chance on it being sold out!!!

It's a great, great movie and that box office is very much deserved.

With those figures, and what it's expected to gross in North America, looks like the sequel is a certainty!
