    Stephen Platt

I seem to recall someone here wondering what became of Stephen Platt, though I can't remember whom.

His style works well for fantasy type stuff. Superheroes, meh. He would be a good one for Kazar or the Hulk.

Never a fan of any of those Image-style artists. Although I appreciate the sense of design guys like Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee used to bring to the table, pretty soon everyone seemed to be mimicking their style and they weren't unique anymore. And then, of course, there was Rob Liefeld and all of his clones. Sort of reminds me of Bob Kane and all of his ghosts. Bad art perpetuated.

The grumpy old man in me always prefers artists like Curt Swan, George Perez, John Byrne, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Dick Giordano, Brian Bolland, Neal Adams, etc. (Although I'm not a fan of Adams' recent work...)

I always liked his work, though most of it didn't translate to the world of superheroes well. His inker should have been given hazard pay.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Jason (Black Knight)and I are huge fans of Platt, one of the Few Image artist that I truly like.....he's come a long way from his image days
I loved his Soul Saga Comic his work was hitting all cylinders when he did that...

I spoke to him when he had just done George Michael's Freek Video and cover art to the single
He designed the costumes and was production designer

It looks like he's come a long way since the 90's. I can still see his style in there but his anatomy and design has improved.

I'm not what you'd call a cross-hatching guy. It's fine in moderation but the 90's saw this movement towards EXTREME cross-hatching and I think it's ugly. It was also a good way to hide mistakes or lack of knowledge of certain area's of the body etc. Just fill in with cross hatches and problem solved! I prefer to let my colours and simple lines do my talking for me.

McFarlane and Liefield were guilty of starting that trend.....both of them had serious anatomy probs in their art

Todd was a sloppy inker and hid his shortcomings with ugly crosshatching....if you study his work he was really bad but it had a style that caught on and his spidey had no bones.....

Liefield just sucked but was in the right place at the right time....lucky him....

He was an acquaintance and classmate of friends attending the Ontario College of Art (now design) back in the day, and I got to see his portfolio of Moon Knight pages just before they were published, as well as his Cable designs when he was slated to take over that book (did he ever do any issues). To be honest I didn't think much of his work at the time, nor his work for Liefeld's studio, but he definitely changed his game by the time Soul Saga rolled around. Everything he was faking with his McFarlane linework of that time melted off... I believe Liberatore/Ranxerox was a huge influence on him if my memory serves (and it might not be in this instance).

He was one of many 90's artists who jumped the track to the more lucrative (upfront) field of video games and movies as they are hitting their A-Game... Joe Mad. the upper tier of the Udun studio. off the top of my head.
