Carol Danvers, formerly Ms. Marvel, drops the black costume and thigh-high boots to pick up the "Captain Marvel" mantle for herself in a new ongoing series (didn't she just have a series a few years ago?) spinning out of "Avengers vs. X-Men":




For some reason, the look of this costume seems to remind me of Marvel/Miracleman...Who new owner Marvel still has yet to do anything with.
Apparently they've run into some more red tape in regards to ownership of the character...

Come on Marvel Comics! Don't be stupid! Everyone knows her as Miss Marvel. At least invent someone if you want to use the ****ing name because you don't want DC snagging it after so many years of non use.
There's something about her new hairdo I don't like. I could say something but this isn't the board for that.

I saw that piece of art on a comics website and passed up the story because I figured it was just some kind of miracle/marvel man as women deal.

Heck, I always like Mrs. Marvel's suit. I also liked Marvel's female version of Captain Marvel.

I think I do like that suit better than the new Power Girl costume.

I've been saying they should call her Ctain Marvel for years, I just think she should keep her 2nd outfit (the one she's been wearing for years now). It's a classic design.

Given that she was very good friends with Mar-vell and received her powers because f him, I have no problem with her honouring her deceased friend by taking his mantle. Ms Marvel is a really dated name in the age of post/third wave feminism. She might as well call herself Super Suffragette. Given the fact that she was born out of the feminist movement though, I can't see anything more fitting to address that equality than letting her be Captain Marvel (as she was in House of M). I think this is a much better choice than the previous two aborted plans... Gravity was killed in Beyond because they were going to make him Capain Marvel (because he was the new protector f the universe), and at one point they were going to make Grant Morrison's Marvel Boy take the Captain Marvel name when he joined the Avengers in recent years.
