That's pretty much the Problem for me ...
I hate the Source Material .., The Story , and pretty Much Everything about it . I don't get the Allure and The Mystique .
Add in the Fact that Waner decided to make this ..., over a Different Super Hero Movie I care More for , really leaves a bad taste in my Mouth, and My Eyes Burning. -
Comicbook stories as mini series would be a great idea and Watchmen would have worked well in that format (the movie was pretty good)
I found the Cormen FF interesting for what it was. (not good, just interesting) I cant really say that about the first big budget FF
I think The Spirit was a big disappointment in that showed FM couldnt handle a high position in a feature film and this may be as close as a comic creator gets.Leave a comment:

I forgot about Steel! Easy to do.
Also, thought Watchmen was as good as it could be for a feature, I'd have preferred a 12 part mini series on HBO.Leave a comment:

Maybe I shouldn't include constantine in a list comparing to source material. I HATED the film but I haven't read the books. And if it is true to the sourceI assume I would dislike them as well.
as for Watchmen, I was among the few that didn't love the comics but I LOVED the movie. i feel a comic should tell a story with pictures and words, while i felt this was garrishly drawn and colored and words and bubbles were overplayed. the movie was able to take the story and comine it with compelling visuals.Leave a comment:

There are worse comic book films than Superman IV (Steel, Catwoman to name two), but it is bad and one of the most disappointing to me. I was sophomore in college when it came out and I was really excited about taking my 6-year-old nephew to see it. My brother, who is 11 years older than me, took me to see Superman in 1978 when he was home from college on Christmas break, and it's still one of my favorite childhood memories.
Well, Superman IV was so crappy, even to a 6-year-old, that I don't think he ever had another thought about Superman since.
Superman Returns is not a bad movie. Taken on its own, it's pretty good. But, it is probably the most disappointing film I have ever seen because of what it could have been and wasn't.
Superman should not be droopy and mopey and sad. Superman should be two-fisted fun, action-oriented, hopeful and take advantage of every ounce of movie magic GGI can provide.
I'll get off my soapbox and continue to hope that Snyder gets it right.Leave a comment:

I would watch an all-day marathon of the big budget FF movies before ever watching the Corman film again. It's just bad guys. I've seen fan films that were tons better. It's a Z-movie, not B.
The Justice League TV pilot is horrible. I can't really think of any redeeming qualities of it.
I thought the Hoff Nick Fury movie was actually pretty decent. It captured the over-the-top bravado of the comics well. Hard to believe David Goyer went on to co-write the Nolan Bat-films!!!

I also prefer Corman's FF over those two aberrant attempts by Tim Story. Marginally.
We have yet to see the definitive FF movie. I hope we'll get it some day.
Budgets aside, some of my most hated comic book movies have to be:
Daredevil (Affleck & Farrell... the worst case of double barrel miscasting ever.)
Fantastic Four 2005 (grossly mishandled and miscast. A true travesty.)
Catwoman
Spawn
Batman (I know Burton's mess of a movie has its fans, but I genuinely find it deplorable... apart from some of the decent production design elements.)
Spider-Man 3
Superman IV
X-Men 3
Wolverine: Origins
To name a few.Leave a comment:

As a HUGE FF fan I enjoyed the Corman version. The source material lends itself well to all the weirdness going on - for example - who ever thought that Doom's metal mask would make him so hard to understand? It's not very dramatic - but it is funny when you think about it.
I'm also a big Corman fan, and I think the background of why the movie was made is funny. It was produced just so they could hang onto the licensing contract in order to force whoever else wanted to make an FF movie to buy the rights off them, but supposedly the actors and crew didn't know that - so apparently they're being tragically sincere in their effort.
I don't think it's a good movie, and I think anything entertaining in the movie was accidental, but I did enjoy it more than the big budget versions.Leave a comment:

I actually thought "Constantine" was alright. It didn't seem below average quality-wise in any way to me. I guess comparing it to the source material might make it worse.
For example, I think "From Hell" is an average to maybe slightly below average movie - not too offensive on it's own - but compared to the book I think it's a piece of trash.Leave a comment:

Does the TV series Mutant X qualify here?
There was a 90 minute,(?), made for TV special circa 1988 that not only starred Sam J. Jones, (Flash Gordon, 240 Robert), but Nana Visitor, (Mjr. Kyra Nerys of Star Trek - Deep Space 9). I thought the tearing of the Spirit's costume and the sound effects for that were a bit overstated.Leave a comment:
