Hold on, let me try to tap into some of my middle aged fan-boy RAGE! I hate the armor and no "under-roos" on the outside of their costumes! DC has raped my childhood!

    Worst marketing ploy EVER!

I don't think anyone complaining is being unrealistic...I certainly don't want Silver Age Red Kryptonite or giant ape gimmick stories back. I just want good stories that are true to the characters without all of the hype and cosmetic changes to disguise the fact that the company (DC) is grasping at straws.

I think it says a lot when a creator like George Perez bows out from writing "Superman" not even after a year because one hand doesn't know what the other is doing and it's all design by committee. I've worked on projects where the boss solicits everyone's opinion and in the end the concept is watered down instead of going with one good idea and letting the best team run with it. And inevitably the whole thing has to be revisited sooner rather than later because the project/campaign ended up being an epic fail...

When I finally decided to quit it really felt like a weight had been lifted. My personal goal is to fill in the gaps of my collection and stick with those diamonds in this rough patch.

I try to give those that like the changes their space and right to their likes...but personally, this nails it right on the head for me:

I hear ya guys and i'm mostly funnin' ya. Altough I don't think the costume changes are that drastic, but it doesn't hurt that they're designed by my favorite artist Jim(the Man)Lee.
I felt the same way when Marvel gave The X-Men to Morrison and Quitely and put them in those HORRIBLE black costumes. It marks the only time in my history of collecting X-Men that I've EVER cancelled the title.

Both DC & Marvel are CONSTANLY doing stuff like this to shake things up(Crisis on Infinite Earths, Zero Hour, Crisis 2, etc...). So yeah, if you're not happy about the changes...wait a year and DC will have their next BIG event.

I do agree with Anthony that DC could have done this differently, so as to not anger the old fans. They could have borrowed a page from the NEW Star Trek movie and used Flash Point as a way to create a divergent timeline...thus launching the NEW 52 as a Marvel Ultimates type Universe. But keeping the prime DC Universe intact. Just an idea.

I have this feeling that we'll get a Wally West/DCnU Barry Allen, "Flash or Two Worlds" type of story to resolve this.

They're dropping hints with this mysterious "Pandora" character...She was at the creation of the New 52 and it seems like she was the one behind it all. There was a reference by The Phantom Stranger in the last issue of JL that this is all a mistake.

I would hope there's a long term back door plan in there somewhere were the "old" DCU can still exist for those who are interested in it...

So someone Opened Pandora's Box by Mistake.
I'll Blame Barry Allen . Ever Since He came Back, the DCU Has seriously Sucked. Kill Him again Already..., and Restore Order.

BTW ..., There's always Back Door Plans..., even more so, when some serious Cash Flow is Involved.

I would almost think that SOMEONE in the DC operation had a backdoor contingency in case this whole thing wound up blowing up in their faces.

One of the beautiful things about comics and fiction in general: if you don't like something, change it; if the change doesn't take, change it back.

If only real life had that kind of flexibility...!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Even if they have a contingency plan, they have to implement it while saving face at the same time and make it seem as though the story dictates it rather than just admit they f'ed up...

That's pretty much my thinking on the matter, too. They could have followed a similar path to the Marvel Ultimates universe and published books set in both the New 52 and Classic DC universes, then fans could have chosen which universe to follow.

Although admittedly the all encompassing reboot "event" did have the impact and (perhaps temporary) sales boost that the suits at Warners wanted.

Well, the only book I was picking up was Swamp Thing, but after six issues he has yet to make an appearance in his own book, so I'm out.

They should have changed the title to "Where's Swamp Thing?"

The "writing for the trades" mentality really kills the readership at the monthly level IMO...Everything is so decompressed...
