That's really the way to go for us, Anthony. I'm also looking to upgrade some of my favorites with Absolute versions like Kingdom Come, Justice and whatever classic books they put into this format. It's a sad day when old-school and diehard DC fans can now safely and unapoligetically walk away. -
I am seriously thinking of converting to trades of stuff I used to like. I just finished the first arc of the Johns/Lee "Justice League" and I'm thinking "Why did I even bother giving it a try?" I'd be better off buying TPBs of classic Justice League pre-Crisis stories than muddle through the chum that DC is currently churning out...Leave a comment:

And...I'm out.
I went 14 months without buying books when it was still fairly decent in 2010-2011. I can go years without buying crap.
Any chance of an Earth-3?Leave a comment:

I finally saw it...yuck. As an alternate future Flash costume, okay. As Jay Garrick...it's just wrong.
Reminds me a bit of this future Flash from Waid's run:
Actually, I could almost live with THAT updating. Especially compared to what they went with. PU.

One of the rumors about the Superman redesign is that it's being done by DC to get further away from the Siegel and Shuster original because of the pending lawsuit. So I have to wonder if some of these changes on the older characters like Earth 2 Flash, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, etc. are being done for the same reasons...Leave a comment:

As much as I chide you all for being angry old men, between the dissapointment of E2, friggin "Lee" lines, and Shazam, I'm very quickly joining your ranks.Leave a comment:

Agreed.
Earth 2 could have been a perfect opportunity to keep the classic characters as they were. It would make some of the old time fans happy. I HATE that Flash costume!

^ The evil Johnny Quick was my first thought, too on the helmet. Good call Palitoy.
The new design does kind of have wings on the side, or maybe bolts of lightning. I like the lightning bolt coming up his leg and extending across his torso and that they retained the red and blue of Jay's original costume, but it's still sad and sorry from my viewpointLast edited by madmarva; Mar 5, '12, 3:46 PM.Leave a comment:

Is it just me or does he look like he's wearing the basic pattern for Spider-man's suit under the lightening bolt?Today is NOT a good day for Golden Age heroes that like the color red and the lightning bolt motif emblazoned on their chest...
This is the DCnU version of The Flash of Earth 2:
Although he's still called "Jay Garrick", pretty much everything else seems to have changed from the World War II era/Golden Age/Justice Society version most people are familiar with...
So those of us that were holdfing out for a last shred of hope that DC would leave SOMETHING intact from by-gone days should just pack it in and admit defeat...
This is why I have become such a big critic of the comic industry. They seem to treat heroes like a fashion show with the outfits and identities constantly being changed. This is not the way I grew up with my heroes. It was one continuous storyline. You had real history on these characters. Now they change about every 18 months. There's just nothing to invest in anymore.

Not seeing the image for some reason. And I probably don't want to.
