      ^ Very nice!

In related news, Marvel is clamping down on negative comments regarding OMD and Joey Q on its message boards...

Here is your ONE warning. Make insulting comments towards anyone no matter if they are a fan that liked the story, defends various creators, Joe Quesada or JMS themselves, or whomever and you will be banned. Simple as that.

These is absolutely no reason to bash, threaten, insult or whatever else to those involved with writing a fictional story you did not like. Don't like it? Stop buying it. Easy as that.

By all means feel free to critique the work itself (meaning the story), but not the person. And instead of saying "It sucked!", contribute to the forums by posting why you didn't like it, because just posing "It sucked!" is trollish behavior and nothing more.

      EDITED:
This is a private forum, which you sign up and are allowed to post on if you can follow the guidelines, which by signing up you agree to do so and by posting on these forums you agree to do so.

Also, for those that want to claim "free speech"... there is absolutely no free speech in the world. The lives of people are given to defend countries across the world and give each country its way of life. So please, no standing on a soapbox claiming "free speech".

This is not up for discussion. All threads on this will be deleted. If you have questions, you are more than welcome to PM me and ask, but do not create a thread to reply. This thread was closed for a reason, that does not mean it is okay to make one to reply to it.
They must be getting LOTS of flack on this one....

I wonder of Joe Quesada is secretly working for DC?

Wow that warning from the marvel message boards really does show haw much of a mistake Q's made over the spidey books....not that it'll make any difference.
Nice work with the Watchman spoof Palitoy...says it all I think.

Well let's face it. Marvel is deserving everything their getting. They asked their readers to follow endless deadend subplots for the last two years that led no where except into their pocket books. They asked readers to cross over and buy other titles to follow a story that ultimately got the plug pulled on it, so in many ways Marvel has a big credibility problem on their hands. Wow. And I thought the clone story was the biggest bomb of all time. Marvel has definitely made a major miscalculation. Imagine what this will do to their other titles, especially the theory that Captain America is dead? I think some heads should roll at Marvel, without question.

I don't know which pic is funnier. Marvel's really hit the skids now. So glad I gave them up after Morrison finished his X run.

Here's my Spider-Man solution....I will buy Amazing Spider-Man on a monthly basis. However, it will be in reprinted form through the pages of Marvel Tales. This is the Spidey I grew up one, the one I remember until they f'ed him up royally. In a way it'll be like reacquainting myself with an old-friend that I haven't seen in years. Marvel will get no money from me, as these issues have already sold once. But my local comic shop will still get $2.00 an issue (albeit it's not $2.99 but thems the breaks). And I know they have plenty of these issues so I should be in good company for quite a while with ol' Spidey.

                  Hmmmm....

"Don't look back, look forward...." to the 1970's.....

                  *sigh*

I dunno.... I STILL feel kinda sorry for Marvel. Sure, stuff like this is a really chintzy redo for the book; but since the 80's fans have wanted more depth and character from their comics. And when you add depth and character you add consequences. Consequences change things.... which you CAN'T do in a perpetual comic. So you get resets.

I wonder how many folks who complain about resets would likewise complain about "villain of the month" stories. I bet a lot; even though they probably don't realize it. "A good story is a good story...." I can hear them shout. Yeah; but what MAKES a good story? Nobody thinks of that.

Historicly the way around this was to tell the story of the BAD GUY. The hero is perpetual; they don't change... but the bad guys can. And the book works as long as you keep coming up with interesting bad guys. But like I said; how many folks would see that as "another stupid bad guy comes out of the woodwork and they fight.... I wanna see some character development! I want to see some story arc! I wanna see whatever the catchphrase of the month is!!!" Like I said; I ALMOST feel sorry for them.

                  Almost.

                    Hey....

I just thought of something.... "Secret Wars" was a flaming pile comic-wise; but they at least had the good sense to keep the changes it wrought to a minimum. Think about it: what really happened? A few new characters, and Spidey got a new outfit.

...and everybody FREAKED over the new outfit! Has everyone forgot this? You think that would have made 'em gun-shy of any REAL changes. Or did something weird happen during the 90's? Maybe we need a reboot of the EDITORIAL staff....? Or the writers? Or the whole damned industry?

"Quesada was actually the Anti-Shooter, and once the reality warp was fixed by having Hembeck punch out the universe everything went back to normal, Claremont and Byrne are still doing the X-Men, and everybody dead is still dead....."

The whole One More Day storyline was poor to say the least. Who's ever going to choose to wipe their memories of their one true love in order to save a clapped out broad? That said, I did find the last part heart breaking and the artwork was good throughout.

That's the one reason why I'll give Brand New Day a chance, especially if the great Romita Jr is on art chores. That ad is awsome!

I'm a bit confused. How did Spidey lose the organic webs?

So Glad I dropped buying comics.

^ How did Spidey lose the organic webs? Simple...they used "magic", which, according to Marvel, they "don't have to explain" because "it's magic". Like I said "simple"...but also stupid at the same time. This whole mess is going to cause a BIG backlash against Marvel...it's starting already. In comparision to bumping off Captain America, yeah he's dead but a good story is being told in the meantime while everyone awaits his eventual return. Spidey's history of the last 20-30 years however seems to have been swept under the carpet, leaving a big lump underneath that carpet that's noticeable and unavoidable.

^^^ No kidding... I'm way lost. I don't read Spiderman. His role in Civil War was just so horrible in what they did to him, & now this. I only read X-men from Marvel,.. & the Zombies. I tryed to get into World War Hulk, However Just thought it was lame, a few books into it. I think Marvel's story's over the yrs have seriously lacked my attention,.. Just don't care for them butchering the characters. I mean come on, They Killed Cap ! Just how & why do that ? It seems to me by that message Board, that Marvel knew they perhaps did a bad move, & were trying to attack everyone. If everyone just stopped buying a Spiderman book for 2 months, they would cave.

                              >I'm a bit confused. How did Spidey lose the organic webs?

I'm MORE confused... how did Spidey GET the organic webs....?

                              >If everyone just stopped buying a Spiderman book for 2 months, they would cave.

They would probably cave anyway. If not directly, then eventually everything that got erased would happen again.

                              >That said, I did find the last part heart breaking and the artwork was good throughout.

THAT'S something. Now, how many folks think they might have liked the story if it wasn't for the nuts and bolts of changing continuity?

                              >they used "magic", which, according to Marvel, they "don't have to explain" because "it's magic".

Yeah; but they usually EXPLAIN "magic" in the Marvel universe. (Hell; the RPG had almost 200 pages explaining magic in the Marvel universe!) "A big evil guy used weird powers to change things" is just as good a circumstance as "a super-nuke gave him superstrength and stretchy courduroy pants" or "he has ESP 'cos a radioactive bug bit him." I suspect ti's the handling; not the elements, that's the real problem. As a freind of mine pointed out "does this affect just Spidey, or the WHOLE Marvel universe?" Good question. I wonder if anyone at Marvel thought to ask that one.

Again, I wonder... is it the way things were done that irks people; or just the fact that things were changed, regardless of HOW....?
