The whole DC Universe seems like a line of Elseworld titles. Redesign for the sake of redesign.

Maybe in a year or so the real DC Universe will step out of the shower like Bobby Ewing in "Dallas."

Another fail. Blecchh. Its way to busy and overly complex.

The on-line buzz on this costume (besides the crappy design) has to do with the "there's a Wayne under the mask" teaser that DC put out there. Thomas Wayne? Damian Wayne? Richard (Dick Grayson) Wayne? Who cares....I'm quickly losing interest in these Earth 2 titles...not what I want out of JSA/Earth-2. Thankfully, there's always back issues and trades of the real stuff.

Thinking about it...has DC in anyway really benefitted from buying Wildstorm and Jim Lee years ago? What real value do those properties have? They've never been big sellers for DC and now they've just folded them in to the DCnU. True, Jim Lee's name on a book will spike sales but he is notoriously slow and eventually everyone ends up gripping about the delays anyway. And as far as his re-designs go.... Ugh!

LOVE Jim Lee...but don't like that costume AT ALL. To Else Worlds...it reminds me of Gotham by Gaslight. But you know, it's just a idea sketch, and may not be the final version that appears in the book.

                  It is:

They really haven't deviated too much from ANY of Jim Lee's redesigns on any of this DCnU stuff...So if you like it, it's Lee...and if you hate it, it's Lee...

I've resisted going into old man mode on the "New 52" for a while now, but I honestly don't understand why DC would create an "Earth-Two" that was so vastly different from the old DCU version. The name means nothing to new fans, so why take that name and *******ize it with this? Would it have killed them to give a huge market segment they have lost, one tiny bone? I guess so.

I was just hoping there would be some kind of appeasement with the Earth2/JSA book. Give us our classic uniforms and characters, something for longtime readers to latch onto, but no.

Yeah the book is supposed to have Jay, Allen and Ted in it, but I wonder how jacked up their costumes will be? The last attempt to redesign Allen's costume had him looking like sandwich board salesman hawking Lanterns.

There is no telling what the regular cover for the first issue is going to look like.

I like Lee's art and the only thing I really have against his designs is that they aren't the classic costumes. But it really doesn't make sense for one or two guys to be designing all the costumes. It becomes cookie cutter or like all the heroes and villains go to the same tailor.

Well, at least the Justice League Doom cartoon movie comes out today and the Superman vs. Elite movie still has Superman in his traditional costume. And the Green Lantern cartoon starts on Saturday morning.

It's wild who would have thunk that the cartoon TV and movie versions of the characters would be closer to the core concepts than the comics.

It looks better in colour. I like that Superman better then the high collar Superman.

I'm wondering if that Batman is Dick Grayson because of the night stick.

Disappointing. While I am one of the few who likes the New 52 costume designs...I think Earth 2 should have all the classic costume designs, Batman in blue with the yellow chest symbol etc....It would pacify all the old timers who can't except any changes what so ever.

He couldn't keep up with his creations, or keep anyone really interested in them...so he took his star status and *****d his talent out for the big bucks....
which is fine until you start believing all your hype and forget that the comics books and the characters is what it's all about.....

Didn't he somewhat change up the X-men when he was on that book?......

Off the top of my head, other than Jim Lee, who is always at the top of the sales charts, despite his lateness...
                              • The entire backlist of Alan Moore's ABC line of Graphic novels. Given how many copies of Watchmen they still sell, you can't doubt how eager they were to get their hands on another couple of dozen Alan Moore books they can keep in print and label "from the creator of Watchmen"
                              • Cut out a huge portion of Image Comics' market share. Given that Wildstorm was responsible for a great many of their top titles at the time.
                              • among those top selling books like The Authority and Planetary, which they have exploited as not only trades, but really expensive Absolute Editions
                              • Windstorms' bullpen of artists that have been mentored by Jim Lee. All these guys have been quietly working on DC books for years now
                              • Wildstorm also has been consulting and designing on DC's Video Game properties
                              • Red. The sleeper hit movie starring Bruce Willis. Based on a Wildstorm book, and among quite a few that have been optioned as movies, including Ocean and Orbital. THIS is where the real value is going to be felt. Whatever number of millions they paid Jim Lee initially, along with his golden handcuff salary is peanuts once they start exploiting properties for movies and TV. Wildstorm was also the West Coast satellite office, closer to Hollywood up until recently.
