Lynda Carter will always be WW in most people's eyes so any project worth its salt has that to contend with...

I agree with that (im one of them) but it would really help if the material was true and worthy of the character then I could deal with whoever played the part. I had nothing against the actress in the pilot, just the way it was done.

Linda Carter is Wonder Woman to me too. She really hit mark. It's too bad Lyle Waggoner was on the show, he's so creepy uncle...I can't stand him.

If you're not going to be faithful to the material, If you're going to write hoakey, silly stories with lame supporting actors, if you plan not to do something epic and want to settle for cheesy embarrasing effects....then Wonder Woman is doomed to fail from the start.

Wonder Woman is a merchandising giant, most women identify with her and Lynda Carter who best played her in the 70's although the second and third season of the show is very forgetable.

If you do not respect the material it will fail. any good writer with half a brain can go through the history of Wonder Woman and pick the best elements to make a solid story. I don't understand what the issue is really.

I would prefer a big screen adaptation, make it big make it epic and a UNKNOWN should be cast...I'm sorry I want someone who as soon as you see her you go WOW!! not W T F!!!!! that means no well know actress who lives in the tabloids......

That's why Chris Reeve worked so well as Superman, there was no attachment to anything when I first saw him.....my first reaction was WOW!!! SUPERMAN!!!

Bruce Timm knows how. Let HIM do it. Does it really matter if its not animated?

              Amen.

I agree with Kingdom Warrior, to do a Wonder Woman we all might be proud of it would need to be a big screen treatment, but Wonder Woman is still tricky.

To me the character is at her best when using a lot of the mythological connections, but that would be terribly different from the TV series. Of course, a different tone didn't hurt the 1989 Batman film.

I think it would be really difficult to write a WW script. Joss Wheden fumbled around with it for a couple of years and never had anything approved. Is there 5 iconic stories or arcs that a scripter could gain inspiration or riff off of?

WW is incredibly recognizable, but I think the general public just sees her as kind of a female Superman. I don't think she has a distinct persona that's well known so it's hard to get a consensus on what a WW movie should be about.

Perez probably has one of the best (if not the best) versions for filming. It was also very mythological. I wouldnt mind even a little bit of the whimsical elements just as a shoutout to Andru and its writer from the sixties (just a few things here and there).
It can be done and be done well.

I personally would go the route of mythology with her, not do anything that approaches the TV show, the first season of the WW show was the best season when they were in the 40's that worked well for the small screen and the 70's audience....but for today's generation I'd like something bigger. something very action orientated.

The Wonder Woman animated movie that came out a while back from DC was actually pretty good an unexpected pleasant surprise....

I'd like to see something serious along those lines.....

The first season of WW was by far the best. Didnt they change it because it moved to another network/budget? Shame. The added realism of the present (seventies) made it harder to write for i think.

Yep, CBS felt if they modernized it, they would get a bigger audience and nope, it didn't work. those shows are very hard to sit through,Lynda carter is the only saving grace for the show.......

Most people actually only remember the first season.....

The CBS version also added additional outfits for Wonder Woman. I remember a motorcycle outfit with a helmet and a wetsuit. Wasn't there one other? Or am I misremembering?

she also had roller skates, which was very popular with the teens and kiddies at the time....

Another problem with Wondy seems to be that she really doesn't have a rogues gallery that is recognizable by the general public....

couldn't WW fight gods and demi gods? I would think that would appeal more to today's audience than her fighting some lame villains?......the whole corporate thing that they were trying to do in the pilot, I found to be very lame.....
