In Spider-man vs Wolverine, he was stuck on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall and stole a costume that had "Die Spinne" on the back of it.
Bringing things full circle, Spidey was forced to wear his "Die Spinne" outfit again starting in ASM #300, drawn by McFarlane. Mary Jane was freaked out by his black costume after her first run-in with Venom, and it was the only red-and-blue suit Peter had for several issues!!!

I remember being excited when Mcfarlane first started doing Amazing because of his work on the hulk. After a while though, it began looking worse and worse. (It may have been because it became a bi-weekly comic) Sadly, thats starting to look like the good old days.
I cant get into what they are doing now either. It just isnt good design work and it looks as if theres tons of different Spidermans running around in the Marvel Universe for those who really arent keeping up with the books on a regular basis. Spiderman has definately lost his uniqness.

          ^^^^
It's the same with all the franchise characters these days... Just look at the Hulk Family. Derivative characters means more action figures as well. Although I'm enjoying Flash Thompson as the military commando Venom, it's kind of a nice break from two decades of I'll eat your brains Venom. It also feels much like an early Spidey book because Flash just can't catch a break. he tries to do the right thing, but the symbiot just keeps messing it up for him... But without it he's just a legless vet.

but you don't need Venom, because Eddie Brock is running around now as Anti Venom. Plus just to show that it is the nineties all over again, the Scarlet Spider s back.

I think youve hit the nail on the head with that one. I think thats exactly their way of thinking.

Heck, it wasnt to bad. I thought the superman and batman titles were good MOST of the decade. It helped having guys like Jurgens and Ordway (for awhile at least). Louise Simonson did some good stuff as well. They went well beyond what Byrne started. Norm Breyfogle (spelling?) was just awesome on batman. First time I ever saw the guys art and still think it holds up well.
I do start running out of exceptions after awhile, lol
I guess some could say the '80s were bad compared to the '70s as well....and on and on.

I honestly believe that, DC and Marvel have deals with toy companies that they have to create a new costume or gimmick every year so the toy companies have something new to sell.....it can only explain all the lame garbage that they put out every few months.....
