Why not a Marvel Universe cartoon?

The success of Spectacular Spider-Man, Avengers: EMH, etc got me thinking...instead of Marvel developing many different animated properties for their heroes, why not just an all-encompassing Marvel Universe cartoon?

They could do any character or group, be it solo or team-ups with no constraints and no having to rely on larger story arcs. What a fantastic show that would be...have a Spidey adventure one week, Hulk the next, an X-Men story followed by a Marvel team-up with Spider-Woman and Werewolf By Night.

I think it would go down in history as the greatest animated series ever if done right.

It'd be cool to see something like that, The Avengers is going to guest the FF this season.

i would guess that different companies have the rights to certain characters in movies and tv so they may not be able to do that

It's been a rush to see all the obscure characters in JLU and B&TB...
it's only a matter of time before one of these MARVEL series does the equivalent... I guess they kinda have over the years... but nothing
as interestingly diverse as those two DC shows of recent years.

          Hmmmm....

It's a good idea, but I think the animation studios would be leary of anything that didn't have a big name character, toy line, movie tie-in etc. You MIGHT get away with a "Brave and the Bold" kind of thing; a name character with featured guests comprising a good chunk of the episode. Maybe a "Marvel 2 in 1" or "Marvel Team Up" series?

WAY back in the 90s, there was a DCU show like this in development. I remember seeing a cel with Green Arrow and Speedy in their original gear. It was to be an anthology show to feature different DCU characters. I seem to recall it being called "Adventures in the DC Universe", but that just may be me mixing it up with the comic of that name that was out at the time.

I agree that it's unlikely we'll get a show like that. I know that Sony, for instance, has it in their contract that they must be involved with all Spider-Man TV shows. Hence the lack of Spidey on "The Super Hero Squad Show".

Yes... you need a big name anchor I think (B:B&TB).... or a TEAM of big name anchors (JL/JLU)... as a bonus... spin-offs of lesser known characters
should at least be considered... I always thought the "Metamorpho" episode
of JL was begging for a Metamorpho spinoff show.... I think THAT's the best
you can hope far as far as "Universe" type shows for Marvel and DC.

Sadly...I think you're right. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy SHS for a laugh, but a serious show would be nice.

The Hulk on SHS cracks me up...man, he is dumb as hell.

I'll really like to see a cartoon that focused on different lesser known characters every week (or maybe even rotated) but I think the one of the problems is it just cost so much to do animation now. Its enough to make one miss the simple Hanna-Barbara style.

SHS creeps me out (weird child-like heroes)...I guess its okay for kids, though.

I'd love to see a Marvel Team-Up (with Spidey and various heroes as allies) or a Marvel Two-In-One (with the Thing and etc...) cartoon.
