Man of Steel: possible trailer description

Sounds like the movie will cover a lot of familiar material, but if it's done well, it could be good.

Sounds awesome! I can't wait for the actual trailer to come out! And then I can't wait for the film to come out!

I realize this is a reboot, so there's this obligation to retell his origin, but do we really need to see Krypton explode again?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Yes, because they have to show you where his fancy new costume originates from

            From the trailer description:

Clark in school spinning a pencil in the air using telekinesis
Is this a power he has in the new 52?
            It's all good!

Damn! Sounds good! Well, lets see what happens. At least there's no Lex with the real estate ventures again.

^ Telekinesis isn't a power the DCnU Superman has displayed so far, but in the past some folks when rationalizing how Superman is able to fly — including John Byrne — suggested a form of telekinesis, maybe on the subconscious level, was the best explanation of his flying ability because he has no other known method of propulsion and he can hover and start and stop on a dime. I can buy that. It couldn't just be the lighter gravity of Earth like when he could only leap an eighth of a mile.

But I don't like them adding additional powers, either. The twirling pencil is one of the thing that jumped out at me, too. He can do enough cool stuff. The additional powers are one of my minor complaints about Superman II.

Trying to apply physics to super powers is always selective and dicey at best, but some writers like Mark Waid often build some pretty good stories off bits and pieces of real science.

But most of the other flying characters operate in the same way Superman does so to me the flying aspect of certain heroes is just suspension of belief on the part of the reader and viewer.

At least there's no Lex with the real estate ventures again.
Amen to that. I wouldn't mind seeing Lex, but to me, to be an antagonist to the Man of Steel, you have to be more dangerous than just being a balding rogue realtor.

Superman Homepage thinks this is bunk. I'm not sure.
