Geez-----I never saw this coming. I wonder if he would still be wanting to sue Kirkman if THE WALKING DEAD had never made it to a TV series....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

These two are from my hometown here. They are just a few years younger than me, but I never knew them. I do know they were very tight, and they started out with "Battle Pope". I honestly wondered why Moore's name wasn't bandied about when Walking Dead hit it big, as he was the original artist.

No matter what happened, it's sad that two childhood friends would come to this.

Yeah, it is sad. Unfortunately, both money and fame sometimes come at a cost the isn't worth either....

Kirkman talked up creator rights a great deal when he became an image partner. It's a real shame this had to happen, just as Image is coming out of the gaiman/McFarlane settlement.

According to the story, Kirkman asked Moore to sign his rights over to Kirkman because a TV deal couldn't be done if he didn't. So, yeah, the TV series has everything to do with it. But it sounds like Moore should have gotten a smart lawyer to look over what Kirkman and his representatives asked him to sign away and how he was to be remunerated.

But it's tough to see a collaborator get paid and you get nothing for ideas you contributed to. But, if you don't look out for yourself, nobody else will. That's a lesson often learned the hard way. I know from experience.

A friend of mine who was a drummer in a band and right after he quit the band they became huge. They treated him really well, gave him royalties above what they were legally required to for sales on the pre-fame recordings he played on. The moral there is everybody is happy - EVERYBODY won.

Now, look at Walking Dead mess - how much money is going to be going to lawyers? It's a shame.
