That was pretty hilarious. In hindsight, the wrap-up to "Reign" was fairly weak, and the mullet and GL going bat-crap were unfortunate side effects.

Fun to see all the celebrities in this. Ron Howard! Where was Clint?

Haha - That was pretty awesome. It's a blatant rip-off of "Drunk History" - but it's pretty awesome.

I think my favorite part was the mumbling parody of Five for Fighting's "Superman" song. Although maybe the Crash Test Dummies song would have been more appropriate.

I loved the part where the storyteller was so disgusted that he poured a drink of whiskey and chased it with some water before he could continue. That added the best part to the humor.

Batman ramming a sponge up Doomsday's ***. I fell over laughing but in comic books that is what would happen. Batman would have solved and stopped Doomsday way before the Superman slug fest.

PS. Nothing wrong with long hair by the way.

The guys over at Superman Homepage got really upset by this. I admit, I started to get miffed at Landis' statement that I don't care about Superman. That's far from the truth, and I get tired of everyone saying they need to make Superman "relevant", but then I relaxed, and just had fun with it. Obviously Landis DOES care for the character, or he'd never ripped this story apart like he has.

The execution is very close except Landis comes off more "driven to drink" then drunk. This could be a series.

This really shows how little of a story there is behind Death of Superman. Particularly since it was dreamed up as a stalling tactic to delay the planned wedding to synch up with the plans on the Lois and Clark TV show.

The unexpected runaway success and media attention of course had Hollywood sit up and take notice, and the lack of any real story is the reason why the Death of Superman film wasn't able to gain traction for the ten years or so they were trying to get it off the ground (thank goodness).

Even the talents of Bruce Timm and co couldn't salvage or make sense of this when it was adapted into an animated direct DVD film.

It's a shame that that era of Superman is now soley focused on this stunt. Jurgens, Ordway, Stern, L. Simonson, Grummet, McLeod, Bognadove, etc. did some really good work during this period. The Superman comics were fun and more engaging than they had been in years. I enjoyed them more than Byrne's run myself. They never could quite get it back together after "Reign" either.

"Time and Time Again" is a great story arc that is just a lot of fun with Superman hopping through DCU history.

I loved the 90's Justice League running for their lives yelling "holy f!!" as they ran.

I think it's a carbon copy of the schtick - maybe minus the one distinction you pointed out. I think it's a good ripoff mind you - I was entertained.

He lost me when he stated Superman died in "Action Comics #75"... dude, seriously? Seriously?!

I can accept parody disguised as stupidity. I can't accept stupidity disguised as more stupidity.
