I can't believe I let this mini-series pass me by. I let this one go, but I ended up buying Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis and 52.
As Dierks Bentley would say - "What was I thinking?" Now, I've got to track down the two trade paperbacks, and the DVD when it hits.
Being a Batman fan, I did pick up the New Frontier Batman. Maybe one day, I'll track down The Flash and Green Lantern figures. Not sure I'd get any others.
The promos for this look so cool. I believe that this will be better than Ultimate Avengers, Superman:Doomsday and The Invincible Iron Mancombined. I haven't seen Dr. Strange yet, but it's on my Netflix list.
Hellboy Animated: Sword of Storms was a bit darker than the movie, but then I've never really read a Hellboy comic book except the Starman-Batman team-up.
DC seems to be having pretty good success with the animated version of Justice League. I can't think of a bad episode of the series - except that the run was much too short. I didn't really like that the episodes were cut from a full two-part sixty-minute episode to done-in-one thirties.
Just got back from a few days of R & R. My wife, Cathy, and I found a very nice resort for couples, outside of Milwaukee, in Mequon, WI. About four hours drive. We had a room with our own pool, hot tub, and steam room/shower.
When we decided to come up for air, we found our way to Barnes & Noble, and I end up where I usually do, in the Sci-Fi and Graphic Novel section. I was able to pick up both volumes of New Frontier. The condition was that I had to wait until we got home (yesterday) to read them.
Maybe down the road I will track down the Absolute New Frontier.
I was really blown away by how incredible the story is. This is really J'onn J'onnz' and Hal Jordan's story.
It really is a shame that as colorful as comics have always been they have always been pretty much white until the '70's - and even then pretty stereotypical.
I have a feeling that the DVD is going to focus mainly on the JLA. But it should be interesting to see if The Losers, Suicide Squad, Challengers, or King Faraday show up.
