I guess its good marketing. Chances are they will show up on Ebay and people will be willing to give you the price of the glasses plus the movie. They did the same thing witht the last Harry Potter movie in some theaters. Just out of curiousity; do the 3D movie glasses work with 3D tv's?

Please God tell me they are doing a non-3D version as well. 3D movies give me horrible headaches.
I had the same issue, but I figured out that the IMAX wraparound glasses were the problem. Now I can see 3D movies on smaller screens that use the old-fashion shaped glasses like these:
I've seen several movies in 3D, and the only two that really gave me any 3D effect were Avatar and the Jim Carrey "A Christmas Carol". I saw Captain America first in 2D, and then a second time in 3D, and I could barely tell any difference. A few times when he threw the shield at the camera it seemed to come out a bit, but not as much as the hype would have you believe.
The last 3D movie I tried was Captain America, and only because the theatre was not showing the 2D version. 30 minutes into the movie I was downing Tylenol like sweettarts. At 60 minutes my head hurt so bad that it was painful just to watch. I am in hopes that the 3D phase will die off soon; great gee-whiz stuff for the IMAX theatres, but not so in standard theatres. Not all 3D is like that. i can go to the IMAX at Disney in Florida and have no issues at all.

I also hate watching movies on 3D...overpriced and the technology is not quite there yet anyway...I hate having to wear those stupid plastic things on my face...they get in my way of stuffing my mouth with popcorn, lol.
Not only is eyewear extremely annoying to me (I have reading glasses, but try to avoid them as well, lol)...but those things give me a headache...and they fog up on me (usually when I eat nachos, or something spicey like that)...I have to keep cleaning them all throughout the movie...what a friggin' hassle.
The ONLY movie that I've ever seen in 3D that was decent was Avatar.
I just saw the latest Underworld this past Thursday in 3D...and man...that's one movie that didn't need 3D...it was truly unnecessary.
