The more frequently I look at it, the more frequently it looks like someone pulling a bandaid off of something, which is really NOT an image I want my comic book company to convey to me!

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon. -
Hmmmm....
I can't say I condone worrying so much about the logo.... but I believe the definitive opinion was this:
Oh Hai DC Comics's New Company Logo - Topless Robot

Okay, so maybe THIS is the definitive comment:
Press Release Thursday: "DC Entertainment Reveals New Brand Identity" - Topless Robot
The only thing I find tough to wrap my head around is that, yes everything said here is true; but it's not new. It's the same thinking that's predecated EVERY "big change" DC (and any other major company) has made over the years. Why be upset about it now?

Here are some better looks at the new DC logo courtesy of Cosmic Books News. There are some interesting things they've done with it and CAN do with it, but in it's static state, as a designer, I still find it boooooring...
I do like this idea of framing an image inside the logo itself. Cool approach this one...
This is apparently how it's gonna look on the books. Kinda vanilla and they DO look like something you should be able to peel off the book.
I wonder how many books will get damaged by some little kid thinking this is a sticker they can peel off...?
Variations on the theme. Some are cool, some are just kinda weird....sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

^Kids would have to read them first. And most aren't appropriate for kids, so that's not really a concern.
I passed the press release along to the other marcom folks in my group at work. They all agreed it was a horrible misfire, just based on what they known about DC Comics, which is only that they own Superman and Batman. Part of our job in designing marketing materials is to ensure the brand stays consistent with our message and what we do. I don't see how this does it for DC.

The Logo seems to give the cover of the book even more room for art....and as shown want to place images and advertise within the logo design.....Comment

I don't know if it's just me.....but,I keep singing, "I am stuck on Band aid, cause Band aid is stuck on me" everytime I see the logo........Comment

It's a completely different beast when viewed in it's true application. Black and white is crap, but seeing it as a fully customizable logo that will morph with the cover art is actually not too bad. It's growing on me...I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment
