Another Superhero on Tap at CW

    TVBizWire by Chuck Ross

The CW, which has successfully mined superhero terrain before, is apparently ready to go there again. After having a good run with “Smallville,” which ended last year, the network is close to a pilot order for "Arrow," a new take on the story of superhero Green Arrow, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog.Writing partners Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, who worked on the "Green Lantern" film, are attached to executive produce and write the project with "Fringe" co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, the story says. This isn’t the first time Green Arrow will be featured on the CW. The character was played by Justin Hartley for a number of seasons on "Smallville," although Hartley isn't attached to "Arrow," the piece notes.

They better not cheap out and cut some corners by having him only use regular arrows that just happen to be green!

Agreed! always thought Hartley should get his own show when Smallville ended.

It would be really stupid for them NOT to tie this into Smallville. They could make the connection loose, like using Hartley but not tying the stories down with baggage like him and Chloe etc.

One has to wonder if it's Hartley himself who did not want to reprise the role given that it was the most obvious Smallville spinoff property.

Although remember as well, it was Hartley that was recast as the Mercy Reef Aquaman Not-Smallville-Spinoff, which led to his casting as Green Arrow in Smallville.

Apparently it's Green Arrow; but NOT Green Arrow:

....kinda like Smallville was Superman, but not. Kinda.

well, with the writers of the Lantern movie attached, its got nothing but success in its future.

Hmmmmmm----do I sense just a bit a slam there, TB??

Seriously, a Green Arrow series COULD be cool, but I think I'd like to see the series take place in his later years (yeah, I want his goatee and his domino mask) when we have a more weathered and cynical Green Arrow. Sort of a cross between Green Arrow and The Comedian, since Green Arrow, in the DC Universe, has always been something of a dark horse....

I guess this means David Goyer's Green Arrow/Super Max film is now officially dead?
