Well this is insightful. The Superbowl is always the one time of the year when a single commercial can reach the most people effectively. It's money well spent if your looking to get the message out about your product. Both the spectators and the media talk about the game and it's commercials the next day. Movie trailers that hit a good note start their momentum here which is why studios invest the money. The Avengers will be getting their Superbowl spot. The Amazing Spider-man will not...? Interesting since Spidey is a complete reboot and the talk so far has been mixed. Now I can understand films like Dark Knight not getting one because it has a built in audience and the hype is already there. Those would be wasted dollars. Spider-man needed this and bailed. Interesting that Sony did not have the confidence to release a full length trailer when the most people would be watching. That becomes a bigger question when you realize we have only seven months to go before it's release and no full length trailers have hit the marketplace. They really need to get on the ball with this project. Sounds like Sony is planning on doing a front loaded blitz weeks before the movie comes out and hope for the best. Here's the story...
