Sometimes I just don't understand Ebay Sellers...

I love Boris The Bear. Recently an original cover showed up on ebay with an opening bid of $225. Seller re-lists the auction 3 times and has no bidders on it. Between the 2nd and 3rd time of re-listing it he ups the price from $132 to $145. Ends with no bids. I missed the auction cause I was working. I notice he doesn't re-list it. Today I email him through ebay's ask the seller a question and he responds with this:

"I have no current plans to relist it. If you want it you can have it for $375.00 total (postage and insurance included). Otherwise I am going to keep it until the next ComicCon and sell it there."

Dude, you can't sell it on ebay for $132 (His lowest re-list opening bid)...what makes you think you can sell it at a Con for $345 or more??!!??

Sometimes I just don't get the mentality of Ebay Sellers that are constantly waiting for that big sale. I used to see this at toy shows all the time...guys that have the same exact junk at every show waiting for top dollar.

It's a shame...cause I would have gone $145 on the Boris Cover.

Very cool. I stopped reading Boris a little wYs into the Nicotat series, didn't realize there was more than one title. Or that it lasted into 30 plus issues.

Beyond the first few issues of mayhem, I always did like the balance between humor and adventure in his books.

Here's another example. The seller has had this artwork up for the better part of almost 1 year or more and it was listed at $499 for the longest time. No takers. Now has re-listed it at:

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

It just doesn't make sense

I think there are some sellers that use eBay a bit like comicartfans... Low store listings let them show off their original art that they don't necessarily want to sell unless the right windfall offer came around. In the case of upping the price, he was probably getting wall offers from his asking price, probably adjusting accordingly.

I really can't see that piece going for anywhere near that much. If it was a death or sandman piece... Maybe if you had the right buyer at the right time, but Spectres hardly a character Bachelo is associated with that has any high degree of interest.

I don't even think Generation X would illicit that high an interest at that price from bachelo. MAYBE if it were Shade original art.
