"Gotham City is a war zone. A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will blow up next. A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it’s Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham’s most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase. "Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself,” says sultry Selina Kyle."
Marvel Studios announced several months ago that Patty Jenkins, who previously directed MONSTER starring Charlize Theron and received an Emmy nomination for directing the pilot of AMC’s acclaimed series The Killing, will direct THOR 2; Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are slated to return to star in the film along with Tom Hiddleston.
It's now been revealed that Jenkins has exited the project; no explanation outside of "creative differences" was revealed as to why. Marvel Studios is hurriedly searching for a replacement for the film which is scheduled to begin filming early next year in preparation for theatrical release Friday, November 15, 2013. In addition to THOR 2, Marvel Studios is currently scheduled to release MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS on May 4, 2012, and IRON MAN 3 which is slated for release on May 3, 2013.

“I saw a very early draft and, yeah, it’s incredible. Look, everything about the story in the comic books is huge. You have these huge, big superheroes and these huge, big egos kind of crammed into one small space.”
