Hearing now that Jerry Robinson has died at age 89. He of course was a huge contributor to the Batman mythos, including The Joker & Robin. Met him awhile back, nice guy. Sadly missed in the comics world.

I met him at the Baltimore Comicon a few years ago. He was incredibly nice, and asked where we were from. When he found out I'm close to Harrisburg, we spent a few minutes chatting about Fred Ray, who lived in this area too.

I have to admit, I just personally wasn't as much of a fan of Robinson as I was of Dick Sprang, but he definitely made his mark on Batman. There is a lot of dispute over who contributed what to Robin and Joker, with Robinson, Kane, Finger and even Sheldon Moldoff telling different tales. But Robinson was most definitely in the middle of the early days of Batman, and contributed much to the strip.
He later went on to have a very successful, long-running political cartoon, and organized many artists associations. DC had him on staff the last several years, with most thinking it was their way to compensate him for the Joker around the time of The Dark Knight's release. He deserved it for sure.
RIP to another comic great.
