Let's not write anything we can't take back.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I beg to differ with you, TB. I think GDT would be a slam-dunk for THOR, especially when I think about some of the stuff from Pan's Labyrinth. I think he could easily work within the confines of the establihed "reality" whilst bringing some of his own vision into it as well.

Just had another thought, too. The director or "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" would probably be a good choice for THOR, too....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

It's probably not going to be anyone like that - they're probably going to go down a list and end up with someone not too well known, who meets their basic criteria and is available. Any of the guys you're talking about probably has the next 5 years mapped out in front of them.

It's probably not going to be anyone with a developed and known style - in any case. It's part 2 for one thing - so "vision" isn't really what they're going to be looking for. The other thing is two directors left - so my guess is the script stinks.

BUT - since we're playing pretend, I'd like Werner Herzog to direct. No matter what the script is like, he'd make that thing incredibly entertaining.

Two directors leaving over creative differences does not bode well.

Who do you guys think should take a crack at Thor? MIB41 and I were talking earlier this week about POTC and (although I've never seen any of them) they LOOK huge and impressive and THAT'S what THOR needs. Perhaps MARVEL could talk Gore Verbinski into helming it?

My first choice would be Peter Jackson, but he's busy HOBBIT-ing around right now....

                  So----who else?

Feel free to comment and suggest, please...!

I agree. The man has the vision and the imagination to do THOR justice. When I first saw LOTR: FOTR and saw the Balroc, I thought----man, what this guy could do with Surtur is sick!!!
