This one is on my "To See" list, actually it's in my cart on Amazon right now. We never got to see Robert Rodriguez' Red Sonja starring Rose McGowan come to fruition but she got to play one of the villains here. How'd she do?

      Rose was just fine.

The movie was fine and probably the closest thing to Conan on film that we've seen. The director didn't hold back on the blood or boobies and Momoa really seemed to embrace the character. The problem is the story. There are elements of Howard through out the movie, but it's just not a Howard story. It's a very generic story with some Howard thrown in to fill in the blanks. Kind of a Mad Lib's approach to screen writing. I wish film makers would respect their source material and not feel the need to interject.

Hopefully DVD/Blue-Ray sales do well enough that a sequel can be made. And, hopefully the producer/director make a faithful representation on film of a Howard story.
How cool would a film faithful to The Frost Giants Daughter be?
      Hey! Check out the pictures.

This movie was just simply badly put together, just couldnt conect with it at all. Didnt really feel there was a story, the whole thing just felt jittery.

Well said. IMO, they should have adapted "Red Nails" or maybe "Beyond the Black River", but most viewers would have said "But what about him being enslaved as a boy and his thirst for revenge?" Those are probably people that wonder why Batman's not flying in his movies. When I hear people trash Momoa, it makes me wonder if they also hate Christian Bale's Batman, since Adam West was first. Momoa looks like the character REH created and tries his best to capture the attitude. There was only a few times it struck me as really off, and those were mainly because of an adherence to trite film nonsense. One thing that bothered me was Morgan Freeman's narration--it couldn't have been more distracting if he actually said "Hi, I'm Morgan Freeman, and I'm your narrator for this film!" It couldn't have been more off if they hired Christopher Walken.

I want to check this film out. Jason and I tend to run similar lines in movie taste, so I have to check this out. Thanks for the heads up!

Although the movie certainly delivered in the battle/slaughter department, overall I found it disappointing.
Momoa isn't the ideal choice for the role.

I fear we'll never see a Conan movie which is truly faithful to the REH character.

But Rose McGowan sure looked hot as the evil sorceress.

Hmmmm.... I still feel that part of the problem is that Conan was such a HUGE inspiration for thousands of generic barbarians that even a dead-on accurate interpretation would still FEEL generic, since all the tropes have been usurped by others over the last 80 years.

Storywise not the best. But the actors were cool and I liked the look of the movie overall. Its a good starting point and I hope theres a sequel. Theres been far worse adaptations the last few years.

I really liked it. I finally got to see the whole movie. I went to see it at theaters but the 3D (hate 3D) gave me the worst Migraine I'd had in years and I had to leave 3/4's in to go home and curl up in a ball of pain for 5 hours.
Anyway, it was good to see how it ended. I liked the movie a lot. I put it on my Christmas list.

There is a "March of the Cimmerians" feel to Freeman's narration.

Morgan Freeman is just 1 of them Voices out there, that I could listen to Forever ... So I wasn't bothered by that at all.

I don't think the Storyline was/is as horrible as people are making it out to be in this Thread. Sure it's somewhat Simple , and there isn't too much to it ... But it far beyond anything the Storyline in Arnie's Destroyer had anything to offer.

I didn't like Momoa when I 1st saw pics of him as Conan ... But then it grew on me ..., and watching him in the Movie , To Me, He looks and Acts so Much like Conan from the Books I've read, however I am not a professional Conan Follower Either.

& Sorbo in Kull ...., is a Guilty Pleasure Movie For me ... I watch it quite often while working on stuff.

I was thinking more along the lines Green Hornet, but thats a very good example.
