johnmiic, thanks for posting those. I love that time period in comics. One thing, though: Bonus! Everything you wanted to know about...Gabriel Kaplan! I think we deserved a better bonus than that.

Also, back then it seemed like no one had access to reference materials, whether it was Star Wars comics or Gold Key's Trek. "Just draw a lazer gun, for Pete's sake--you have a deadline!"

              Neat!

Although the vast number of tie-ins was a mixed blessing. Star Wars saved comics, but demonstrated the value of playing it safe rather than doing new stuff.... and we're living with the fallout of that today. (Oh man, ANOTHER remake?!?!?!)

Hokey smokes! Can someone please tell me the storyline of how they got man bat, swamp thing, Grundy, Bizarro and the demon to team up?! That is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I would have totally bought a new 52 title with that line up.

Did you guys get Captain Canuck distributed in the states?

I was seeing these sold at discount retailers up here in Canada well into the nineties. This title was no Alpha Flight.

Richard was my prof a few years ago when I was in school. He's very talented.
For Christmas that year he gave all of us signed copies of issue #1 from his 70's series.

Captain Canuck made it to the spinner racks in Illinois.

The Kirby Dc stuff during this period is terrific. If only Dc had supported him a little more. I think Kamandi was the only title he did more than thirty issues of. Now, if his Fourth World stuff had continued theres no telling where he would have took it,lol.
I guess you could say Hunger Dogs but thats very condense.

I picked an issue up on a family trip to Kansas City, couldn't get it anywhere back home in St. Louis, and it became the only comic I've ever had a subscription to -- I loved the character and the continuity and was terriblky disappointed when it the publisher wnet out of business.

Captain Canuck is being released in it's entireity next month in a 360 page collected paperback with all updated coloring. I've never read any of them, but it does look cool. He's a blatant Vindicator rip-off, but if the story is fun, then maybe I'm on board. What's the consensus about CC?
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Captain Canuck appeared on a series of stamps up here, alonside superman.

Every so often I notice that they have tried to revive the character.
