    Shazam!!!!

Big news out of New York Comic Con: Shazam is coming to DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. Written by NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Geoff Johns and illustrated by acclaimed artist Gary Frank, THE CURSE OF SHAZAM will unfold as a back-up adventure that will appear in JUSTICE LEAGUE – also written by Johns. What manner of adventure is in store for Billy Batson and his big, red alter ego? It’s too soon to say for sure, but you can bet that THE SOURCE will have all the updates, so stay tuned.

That's cool! Could be interesting. I would like to see their approach. I'm assuming whatever they do will be based on any backroom talk for a movie.

good to see Cap being tackled, not excited about the creative team, particularily the artist. Johns did pretty good with the characters in JSA, tho.

Given the creative teams success on Superman in "Action Comics" before I have to say I find this interesting...Really looking forward to what they bring to the table and hope it's not any of that S.H.A.Z.A.M. crap from "Flashpoint" or from Winick's "Trials of Shazam". Hopefully it's an approach similar to Ordway's "Power of Shazam" series but with a little more modernization (but not TOO much).

A backup to JL? The first issue of JL was a POS. As much as I love the Big Red Cheese, I don't know if I can buy JL to read a Captain Marvel backup.

And, I hate the Super Billy take on the character. Johns used it on JSA. I hope he goes a different direction in the DCnU.

              Geoff Johns - awesome

              Gary Frank - freakin awesome

              JLA backup - lame

I guess I can't complain too much since they are actually trying this again. It is my sincere hope they can both integrate Cap into the DCU and show the respect he deserves. I really like the way Billy and the Cap have been merged and aren't two separate entities. I know it isn't the classic interpretation of the character, but I found those stories where Batson was still a bit whimsical but still had the wisdom of Solomon to balance it out.

I'll keep fingers crossed with this, but I certainly won't hold my breath.

Ohh, missed the JLA backup part, pass. I am not buying that piece of garbage for any reason. Issue 1 was horrible.

Cool to hear that Cap will be included in the new DCU, even if it's just a back up feature.

I was wondering what they were planning to do with the character, and was concerned when there was no mention of him up until now.

I'm assuming Captain Marvel will now have yellow/golden trunks on the outside of his costume to update him for a modern audience.

                        HA!

One would think that Cap's outfit is one of the few that wouldn't need updating. Unfortunately, I expect Jim Lee to armor it up, or at the very least throw in some of his annoying "Lee Lines".

Actually, even though I've never been a huge fan of SHAZAM or Capt. Marvel, I think with this creative team, it could do gangbusters. I'm rather surprised that DC is relegating it to a back up feature rather than, at the least, a mini-series.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

good news. I'm hoping they will go for a more classical approach to the Big Red Cheese visually... button tunic rather than full suit tights.
