if I missed someone's report on this somewhere I apologize.
I just picked up Savage Hawkman #1
OK. I’ve been waiting for this book to come out. Mostly for the reason that I was fearful that they were going to make Hawkman “radioactive” once more and destroy his complete character where nobody would touch him but they didn’t. (Well, for now).
It starts off where Carter Hall has been Hawkman for moderately a while but appears to be at the end of the rope with existence as “Hawkman” and has been a recluse and angry about something (they never say why he is so ****ed).
So he drives his truck out in the country, takes a walk into the night through the woods and throws his wings and helmet (and whatever else) down on the soil, empties a flask of with quite a quantity of alcohol within it and lights it up into flames. Oddly this stuff burns to ashes? Yeah, that doesn’t makes sense.
Then all of a sudden…
Fooosh!
Then, what is left of the Nth metal appears to talk to him in some peculiar method and then explodes all over Carter.
Afterward Carter Hall wakes up after knocked unconscious for some time but he appears to be at his “warehouse” wondering how he got back. Guessing from his reflection bubbles, the hike is relatively a ways away.
Carter notices his skin and body is all blistered at first and he notices his tallest skylight window has been broke where it seems that has come through. Carter also makes sure his wings and helmet are gone, which they are. Of course Carter then discovers he has an amazing healing factor and all of his burns start to heal. Sound like anyone?
I'm going to skip through a lot of BS snoozer stuff. You can read when you get the book.
We find out that Carter Hall has basically been turned into Wolverine. That’s right folks. DC has gone and done it. Well, in my opinion...I could be just making a wild assumption.
Somehow that magical Nth metal has been transformed and place in the interior of his body and he when he is in danger it plainly comes out of his body (surrounding him in armor) along with his wings and his latest wrist type “bladed weapons”.
There’s even a panel where Carter (dressed as the new Savage Hawkman) looks just like Wolverine (the body pose in addition to snarling contortion on his mug).

I sure anticipate this new “Savage Hawkman” and really hope they are not taking on a DC/Wolverine approach.
Toward the end of the book, for some reason or another; Archaeologists require Carter Hall to decipher alien writing on the object found at the bottom of the ocean (Not sure what it was but it started out as a alien vessel later with a mummy like creature in the belly.) Then it turns into this soul sucking alien that begins to drain people. This is where Carter discovers that he has metal inside his body as all these nth metal bits and pieces began to gradually come out of him turning him into…the Savage Hawkman (chuckle…chuckle)
In the end of this first issue; Hawkman is left off fighting some kind of alien that came from this Mummy (it really doesn’t make too much sense.)
I’m hoping issue #2 clears a bit of this up...but it looks as though the Savage Hawkman is about to have his soul or something sucked dry (assuming the metal or whatever is in his body). The aliens says to him..."You are not from this world."....and we're left off with Hawkman dying as this creature continues to another victim with partial pieces of the nth metal sticking out of it's body. Still doesn't make sense. Hopefully issue #2 will clear it up.
