She was my favorite of the Supergirls, for that reason. I told her about the Mego Supergirl, and she thought it was cute that they made the doll in that costume.

im from middle Georgia and have been here all my life but have never had enough adventure in me to go to Dragoncon. I have really got to go someday. I have heard (not sure if its true) that its not as fun as it once was because its more media instead of comic inspired now and not as many of the comic professionals go to them anymore. I still think it would be enjoyable just for the crowd.

Sadly, that can be said about a lot of big conventions, to some extent. San Diego was more about movie and TV promotion and celebrities than Star Wars, comics, or anything else I go to conventions for.
But D*C is still very fan-based. It's more of a celebration of fandom than an old-fashioned comic book convention. There were a lot of professionals and panels, although they weren't all comic book-related. I got to meet several members of MST3k as well as Ashley Eckstein, which was awesome for me. The comic book shopping wasn't great, I will say.

thats really a very old character, im really only vaugely familiar with it myself. i dont think it was really use much in all star comics either (that the right book?) i would like to see someone go around in the golden age sandman costume in the middle of summer!

Close enough. We did our Sandman and Red Tornado costumes in Atlanta, the first weekend in September. It was in the mid-90s most days. Even in April, when we go to Pittsburgh, they're still plenty warm.
Yeah, Ma Hunkel wasn't an official JSA member. She wasn't invited to the first meeting, and tried to sneak in the window. Her pants got stuck on a nail and ripped off, forcing her to wrap her cape around herself. Jay offers to take her cape for her, and she leaves in a hurry. Later, they find her pants still stuck in the window and have a good laugh.
Ma's kind of been retconned to be a little less silly, and kind of an honorary member - kind of a Rosie the Riveter type. In fact, her origin does list her as being a riveter in a factory at some point. She appears in annuals where she
teamed up with other Golden Age heroes.
Now, she's the caretaker for the JSA Headquarters.

that was a good costume choice. i would like to see how people react around the surrounding area who know nothing about superheros

Let's see...I've gotten, "Hi there, um...Mister Bucket...Man."
"Are you the superhero guy from Fat Albert?" (I have NO idea what that's supposed to mean.)
"Wow, it's Forbush Man!"
"Now that's an original take on Iron Man!"
There's also an indy comic artist who sometimes shows up in Pittsburgh. He created a character named Buckethead, and the one year, he was in costume as the character. We stood on the show floor and fought over who was stealing whose look.
I think my favorite from DragonCon was the older woman who walked up to me, obviously very amused with her own wit, and said, "Didn't anyone tell you...teeheehee...to stay off pot?"

I've also noticed that there are a few other people who wear this costume, but so far, I'm the only one with a metal pot. The others are spraypainted plastic.

Aw thanks Ed! This is one of my favorite costumes. I don't know if Nate would ever go to MegoMeet as the Sandman. Between the hood, gas mask, and overcoat, that outfit is very warm, especially in that little area.

Your Ma Hunkel costume is one of my favourite and most unique superhero costumes out there.

I think it would be awesome to see it and the Golden Age Sandman costume at Mego Meet one year!

Flash of two worlds is fun.

I don't know how to photo editing, but I've been playing with Photobucket's features. I want to clip out the two Flashes and insert them in the actual comic book cover. So far, I haven't gotten great results, but I'm still trying. If I ever get it right, I'm going to print it out and frame it for my friend(the Golden Age Flash in the pictures).

Did you meet a lot of people from the RPF?

I met a few, but the place was so big that I missed a lot of them, especially since I didn't get to the parade. There were several who I thought I recognized and they were moving too fast, on the skywalk(stopping and photos are discouraged) or had too big a crowd to even get close. Kerr Avon recognized my costume and said hi. I got to meet Laamberry(SheHulk in the pics) and MattMunson at the DC photoshoot, which I was really happy about. I also met MrSinistar, with his fabulous Bot replicas. He knew I was going with an MST3k group and we had plans to meet before the Frank Conniff/Trace Beaulieu panel. We hung out most of the day, and I love the pictures we got with him.
