    Cool Superfriends Animator Interview

This is a really great interview with Superfriends animator Darrell McNeil. Many behind the scenes stories and things you may not have known about the cartoon. Also the interview is pretty recent, FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2011:

99 interviews with "lost" superhero stars of the '70s and '80s

Thanks for posting! That is part of my massive "super '70s and '80s" series - interviews with 99 "lost" stars of superhero entertainment from SUPER FRIENDS to the Sea World water skiing superheroes show to SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE and more. Daryl was a particularly good interview - long and detailed. There are links on each interview to help you navigate the whole series. I hope you enjoy and please post any feedback, pos or neg, here! I value it all.

    Best,
    Marc

Wow, what a great interview, and I just got to skim it so far! McNeil has written several articles for Back Issue, and they are always entertaining. He kind of carries on his mentor Toth's stream of conscious writing style. I think if it weren't for him, the SF series would have been a lot less faithful to the comics.

        Hmmmm....

SuperFriends alwas seemed like a silly show; even when I was a kid.... but it's interesting to read articles like this and to see just how much effort it took to get it on the air, and how hard folks had to work on it to get it done.

Many of the Super Friends themselves thought so, too! This is one of the most hilarious interviews I've seen in a while (it's Zan, the Wonder Twin): Noblemania: Super Michael Bell (Wonder Twin Zan, Riddler, Gleek).

I might be wrong but I think Michael Bell was in Star Trek-TNG:Encounter at Farpoint. He was the guy Picard dealt with holding the alien posing as Farpoint Station captive.

^He was in Encounter at Farpoint as well as a few episodes of DS9. He was also the voice of Duke on GIJoe and I think he was the voice of Prowl onTransformers. I didn't realize he was Zan.

As silly as superfriends is, i have very fond memories of it. I still watch the various episodes all the time. My favorite season probably is Challenge of the Superfriends although the very last season is real good to. I really like people like this guy in the article. He KNEW what he was doing was alsome and was glad to be there and got to hang out with some legendary people in the process. I can only hope that someday American made animation will have a resurgence and people who really care about it will be heavily involved in every aspect of it...
