Hmmmm, well, I gotta admit, I was reallly disappointed
that CARNAGE was the villain in the book because I was hoping
for some SPIDEY-villain I grew up with to team-up with
my favorite supervillain of them all (JOKER).

The thing is though that the writer used CARNAGE because
he wanted to use him to play off as a parallel copy
of the JOKER to go with the theme that "life can be chaos & cruel"
---and these villains represented that best in the authors' eyes
I guess---kinda like "PSYCHO and PSYCHOER"

Another thing I'll admit is that even though I think it was PERFECTLY
written (and illustrated), well, for a hardcore comicbook
reader, it may come off as too generic in it's overall story
and vibe. I didn't mind that. It kept it simple enough to make it fun.

I just thought it was great.

Just thought I'd try to give ya the full dope there
in case anything I'd say might make ya wanna check it out

Actually, even though its kinda dark in tone---I'd
recommend it if you were looking for a gift for younger superhero
fans too--just because the story DOES seem a bit simpler than most

In my opinion its one of the best comicbook stories ever (not
that I'm that well-read in that area)--- and you should
check it out----if you are interested, I mean.

Regarding SPIDEY vs. the JOKER---in DISORDERED MINDS it seems
SPIDEY handles JOKER quite well-----in fact, it's BATMAN actually that
makes a couplea errors regarding SPIDEY'S nemesis---namely, CARNAGE,
being tricked by his disjointed symbiote pieces to think he is dead at one point---

but, hey SUPERMAN gets tricked by the JOKER like nobody's business
when THEY meet up from time to time---so BATS has THAT going for him

I know you were joking around T-bolt---but I just love talking about
DISORDERED MINDS if I have any opportunity

I'd like to se Parker deal with the total depravity of the Joker. The first grinning corpse he sees, Spidey's crying like a little girl.

Seriously I don't see how it could be much better for a TEAM-UP
of two popular superheroes than something like that ----they took
both characters to their core as far as they had to (in my opinion)
and intertwined them in a really tight story (with those great illustrations too)

Take a story like WORLD'S FINEST that was written for
SUPERMAN and BATMAN for the "Timmverse" --I mean, that starred
my favorite popular hero (SUPERMAN) and was probably just as good
a story and characterization, but SPIDEY'S light-hearted nature
up against BATMAN's brooding---it just lends itself to the most dynamic
of popular super-relationships I can think of

Hey, maybe something like SILVER SURFER meets PLASTIC MAN might
be another that'd come close---but I'm really reaching there

I also like in DM how SPIDEY loses his temper with THE JOKER (almost
like black-suit SPIDEY from SPIDER-MAN 3) ---it really accentuates how
infuriating a psycho like THE JOKER can be
(reminds me of "BB" Terry vs. the Joker in their showdown in BB's ROTJ)

The reason I just went on like this is I think this is the first time
I've brought up DISORDERED MINDS on these boards and someone
    acknowledged it!

I've learned to appreciate BB more---
the most notable "good" thing that BB has to offer, to me, is how much
they did nail the character in a more realistic way
than the Keaton movies, which altho' I like
better ---are too cartoony to accept as a
more accurate "subdued" portrayal of BATMAN's world---

and from what I hear, TDK, is just going to kick all kindsa butt
---so things are looking MORE up for the Nolan movies
    if that's even more possible

Can't say I think the Spidey movies are as cartoony
as the Keaton Batmans...I just think Spidey's persona
lends itself to a "lighter" if not necesarilly "cartoony" vibe
    onscreen

    Oh well---enough about the movies---

I think THIS is more interesting...

One of my most favorite (probably 2nd favorite) comics
    that I own is a BATMAN/SPIDER-MAN team-up

The comic is called DISORDERED MINDS and it came out like 8 years
ago and is very true to the characters---very "pro" when
it came to handling the two franchises I think

And one of the things I like so much about it...well...
You can't get a much more fun relationship than that
between those two guys when it comes to superheroes
    it seems to me---

    Their personalities are SO different

I wish there were more team-ups with them together

Just thought I'd mention that for those who actually
wanna see the both of them in a good story together
and haven't heard about the comic as of yet

(Oh---and by the way---SUPERMAN is better than both
    those second-raters! Hee-hee!)
