I just read it elsewhere for free, took all of 4 minutes. Now a month (or more) for another 4 minute read. Its all pretty pictures with little story.

Yeah me too...just read it all online...what a waste. I wish they had paired up Johns with George Perez instead. The did a great job on Legion of 3 Worlds with a lot more story and tons more characters. This was just lame...

I don't think its the fault of the artist here, the lack of story falls on Johns. Usually he packs a lot more into a comic, at least he did on JSA.

Yeah that's why I think it's the artist...Johns had more story in Action Comics with Gary Franks too....I think it's Jim Lee's fault...He's pretty much a pinup guy now and you can't plot out a heavy story if it's just a bunch of big panels. Otherwise you'd have to push the story with a million word balloons and that'd just cover up the pretty little pictures. So Johns wrote based on Lee's weakness IMO.

^^^ OK, blame Lee if you want. Wait'll Dane gets here. I figure Lee will only last a few issues anyway, see his Batman book with Miller. Still not done. He can't keep up with deadlines.

I don't see Lee going past 12 issues...I'm sure the 1st arc will be 6 so they can slap it in a trade pretty quick....

no way he will last 12 issues, unless DC gives him 3 years or so to finish it.

                  Well, I read it...Meh....

Doesn't show the best of humanity in any character (superhero or not) in this issue, does it?
                  It's all good!

Our local comic shop has sold out of every copy of the new universe. Oh well. Gimmicks are applied constantly because fans take the bait.

Well, let's not be so arrogant with our opinions that we disregard the possibility that this new JL, and by extension DCnU isn't what the "kids" want.
Is it a gimmick? Sure. But, what isn't?
                      Hey! Check out the pictures.

                        >Unfortunately, it seems that a whole mess of comics fans are deciding to shut up and nut up buy it because ALL the LCSs here in the Louisville area are completely SOLD OUT

It's also possible that.... gasp!.... people genuinely like it! Or at least get something out of it; even if the majority of us oldsters don't. I've been wondering if there's not a significant number of fans who kinda enjoy the annual reboot.... hence why they keep happening. Maybe it's like spring cleaning? I don't get it.... but the folks putting the books out get the hard data on these things that we don't, and they've been pushing the annual reboot thing for a LONG time now. (Ten years? More?)
