New Dave Stevens Art Book

My big purchase today. Staying up way too late right now going over all the gorgeous artwork between the two covers. Beautiful presentation, despite the fact that I own the original sketchbooks, this is definitely the format I want this material packaged in.

Man, we lost that guy way too soon. Had a heck of a life, too--worked w/ Doug Wildey and Russ Manning, created a beloved character of his own, got to know Bettie Page, married a B-movie actress, had a female artist paint an entire series based on him after he jilted her...seriously, the guy lived enough for a few biographies.

That's an awesome book, Sam--where'd you get it?

Got to meet and talk with him years ago he gave me great advice on inking with a brush if i wanted a retro feel to my work also researching reference for drawings. The Man was truly an amazing person.

I have a lot of collected Stevens stuff but that book has to be in my collection....

Picked it up at Fan Expo.

Bought the Comicon version, but my brother forgot to pck it up for me.

I have brush with passion as well. Not a lot of overlap from a cursory glance.

It's the collected material from his four convention sketchbooks for the most pkart from what I can tell.
