Wonder Woman is a horror comic

The New Wonder Woman Is Not A Superhero Comic, Its A Horror Comic Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Big fan of Azzerello's 100 Bullets, the joker graphic novel, Hellblazer (Richard corben art!), Lex Luthor mini, and the recent Batman Flashpoint.

Pretty indifferent to his run on Superman, even with the Jim Lee art.

Not quite sure what to make of this one. Horror hybrids aren't bad and can be quite entertaining with the right kind of characters... Like Batman or the Demon or Swamp Thing. Not so sure Wonder Woman is that kind of character. Unless perhaps you are exploring misogyny and/or fetishism... Which is A pretty dicey game to be playing with DC's premiere super heroine.

Not that Azzerello hasn't shown that he can handle complex female characters... Dizzy from 100 bullets stands out in his otherwise Male-centric bibliography.

I don't see where it say's it's a horror comic but I'll give it a try as I don't mind horror comics but agree I'm not sure if horror and Wonder Woman go together but I'll give it a shot. I might like it.

Certainly not the first attempt at a hybrid.

So how will DC's new beginning affect him and how he'll handle Wonder Woman? "I can only speak for myself, were doing a soft reboot, we're not getting rid of her history or anything like that."

He then adds, with a little reassurance and a laugh: "People need to relax, she's not wearing pants. But it's not going to be a superhero book. I can guarantee you that, it's not a superhero book. It's a horror book."

I don't know how I missed that. Thanks and interesting to see DC do this with Wonder Woman. I wonder how it's going to work out.

Wow....what other genius stuff will DC come up with next??!!?? That's just pathetic. Wonder Woman the Horror comic...just sad.

I think they are doing this stuff in the re-boots on purpose so that they won't have to print books anymore. Thank God I am done with new comics.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
            The beauty that surrounds them
            Isn't it a pity".

Well, with villains like Hades and Circe and Cheetah and Medusa and other mythological-type characters, I could see a horror aspect to Wonder Woman, but yeah this sounds out there to me, too. Wonder Woman the Vampire Slayer? Maybe Joss Wheedon will want to take another stab at that WW movie script.

I've never been a big WW reader (I have a few issues), but making it into a "horror comic" does NOT seem like a wise idea to me. I'm not really sure what the management at DC is thinking these (or if they're thinking at ll). I'll have to ask my friend Robert what he thinks of this as he is THE biggest WW fan I know of....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Alternatively, Grant Morrison wants to sex up Wonder Woman, like her creator intended.
Grant Morrison Plans To Bring The Sex Back To Wonder Woman Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

So, Grant Morrison, when can we expect to see your long, long-awaited Wonder Woman series alongside artist Ethan Van Sciver? “It might be out next year,” he said over the weekend, speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, “or it might not.”

If you’re getting tired of waiting, you might want to blame Princess Diana’s creator William Moulton Marston for the delay. The late psychologist and free love exponent, who based Wonder Woman on he and his wife Elizabeth’s 18-year-old lover Olive Byrne and imagined a Themsycria where bondage-obsessed Amazons kept female slaves and pretended to hunt and eat one another, is Morrison’s prime inspiration for the series, which could explain any hesitation on DC’s part.

“You can take the violence out of the original concept of Superman- all the drop-kicking bad guys into the ocean, which would basically kill them anyway,” said Morrison, “or you can take the gun out of early Batman, and these characters remain essentially the same. But you can’t take the sex out of Wonder Woman. That version of the character died with Marston in the 1940s and she hasn’t recovered her popularity since.

While true, this sort of thing never works for DC since they handle most controversial and "adult" subjects with a sense of "plausible deniability." I suspect it'll amount to more T&A.

                        >the concept is the god walk among the earth terroizing the humans

Makes sense, but isn't that the late 80's reboot?

And we question that the comics industry will collapse.
