That and the there's another set of shorts from 1981 I believe which features a Riddler appearance among other things.

if im not mistaken theres also a set of shorts from the '82 to 83 season not aired in the US. Or maybe it was limited run. They are called the lost shorts. Just before the legendary super powers show started...

I am a huge fan and was ecstatic when they finally released it on DVD (I had most of the series on tape for decades but was missing 2 incl the wonder woman episode)
Amazon.com: Ruby-Spears Superman: Joe Ruby, Ken Spears: Movies TV

Downside is that it didn't use many true superman villians but the style was awesome

Wow. This is the first time I've EVER seen this.

I was obsessed with Superman when I was a kid -- mostly by way of the movies and the Superpowers figures. I would have loved this show if I'd known it existed!

ive always wondered if ratings really had anything to do with a cartoon staying on the air. I know both Thundarr and Blackstar had pretty good rating with its initial release but other than a certain amount of episodes, they never continued. On the same note, both Hulk and spiderman were really big hits in the early eighties and stayed on the air at least four years more but no more episodes were ever made. Never really made sense to me....

Once you hit a certain number of episodes production stops 'cos you can rerun what you have ad nauseum. Especially back in the day, it was assumed a series was only gonna last one season anyway.

Isn't the voiceover script the same intro as the 1950s tv show? Nice looking animation.
