I didn't know Untold Legend was out in TPB. I have the little Tor paperback from the early 80s. I read that thing to death! I also have the mini-version that came with those audio tapes.
That would probably be my #1 pic for mini. Others that I tend to go back and reread are Crisis on Infinite Earths and Tales of the New Teen Titans, off the top of my head.
Wolverine Chris Claremont and Frank Miller
Batman year one Frank Miller David Mazzucchelli
The Punisher Stephen Grant and Mike Zeck
Hawkworld Timothy Truman Alcatena
Cloak and Dagger Bill Mantlo and Rick Leonardi
The Man Without Fear Frank Miller and John Romita jr
Lady Death The Reckoning Brian Pulido Steven Hughes
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Alan Moore Kevin O'Neill
Marvels” by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross
New Frontier” by Darwyn Cooke
Kingdom Come” by Mark Waid and Alex Ross
Watchmen” by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
Sin City Frank Miller
The Crow James O'Barr
^I've had it collected for so long, it's easy to forget the impact Kingdom Come had on me as a mini series. I couldn't wait for it to finally come out, and then the wait between issues was torture.

Chris
I was the same....I must of read it like a thousand times since....
Hardboiled by frank miller and Geoff Darrow.
Golden age by James Robinson and Paul smith
Death the high cost of living by Neil gaiman and Chris bachello
We3 by grant Morrison and frank Quitely ( new hardback with new material just came out)
Enemy ace war in heaven by Garth Ennis and chris Weston et al
Daredevil born again by frank miller and David muzzicchelli
Batman year one by the same team
The ones I tend to re-read the most and notice something new each time around are:
Crisis On Inifnite Earths
Kingdom Come
Watchmen
JLA vs the Avengers
Others that I really like are:
Camelot 3000
Untold Legend of the Batman
Spider-Man: Blue
The Golden Age
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Marvels
Wolverine (Miller/Claremont)
Tales of the Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: Rebirth
Hulk: Future Imperfect
Batman Year One
Wolverine: Old Man Logan
Superman/Batman: Generations
And I still have a soft spot for World of Krypton, the 1st mini-series from DC or Marvel
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
Everybody's lists are really good. I would include a lot of ones listed, but here's a few I didn't notice, although I may have missed them.
Squadron Supreme
Hawkeye from 1980s
Ronin
Phanton Zone (weird but cool to see to see Colon art on a Superman comic)
Robin mini
The Nail
I dearly loved The untold Legend of the Batman comic and other comics like it that reviewed the entire history of a character.
X-Men 138 (funeral for Jean Grey) filled in a lot of X-Men history for me.
Action 500 is a great silver-age origin and really life story of Superman up to that point.
Green Lantern either 198 or 200 did the same with Hal Jordan and what was cool Joe Staton ghosted the art of guys like Kane and Adams to match the retelling of the stories.
Byrne and Stern did an excellent recap of Captain America's origin and WWII life in their run in the early 1980s.
While continuity has become more convoluted over the years, stories like these from time to time are great for catching new fans up and a nice trip down memory lane for longtime readers.
"Black Orchid" by Gaiman & McKean
"Arkham Asylum" by Morrison & McKean
Both of those are EXCELLENT reads and the artwork is just killer!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
