In the film Dr. Erskind says he's from 73rd Street & Utopia Pkwy. That is just minutes from where I live in Bayside. I don't know what the in-joke is. Maybe Stanley Tucci lived there and is from NYC? Maybe Jack Kirby or Joe Simon lived there? Certainly the area would have looked a lot different pre-WWII. The area is very diverse these days with Jewish, Muslim, Asian, Christian & African-American residents all living together. Maybe the area was much more German in the past?
Google Maps allows you to look at the intersection with real photos. Just up the road on Utopia is St. Johns University, on Union Tpke & Utopia, which is considered a very prestigious school, (not me me tho). Down the road is Queens College. Behind 73rd St., down a ways, is the Long Island Expressway and Francis Lewis High School. This area is also mere minutes away from the park where the Worlds Fair depicted in the film was held, now called the Flushing-Corona Park.
