    Ultraverse

I've kind of become obsessed with the idea of the ultraverse after stumbling across blogs by kids who grew up in the 90's and are big fans of Image, Ultraverse and Valiant.

The only title I ever bought back in the day was Firearm because I was a huge Starman fan and James Robinson was writing this title. I also picked up the Perez Ultraforce, written by Warren Ellis.

The entire Malibu situation is fascinating to me... Particularly with all the sub companies and imprints like Aircel, Adventure, and Eternity thrown in.

I wonder if the new Men in Black sequel will have the Marvel Studios logo in front of it?

Anyone got any Ultraverse comics recommendations?
Any fans of the Nightman TV show or Ultraforce cartoons?

I enjoyed the Night Man tv series when I could catch them on Sunday mornings on WGN. I have the first two issues of the comic series and I enjoyed them even though I could not find future issues at the local newsstands.

My favorite Ultraverse titles were the Exiles, Firearm and Mantra.
Read my blog at Moongem Comics about comics, toys and more.

The first MIB movie said "based on the Marvel Comic"

Alright, we've got another trivia contest today, today's prize being a carded Mattel Retro Action Wonder Woman (the one you will get is not the one in the picture) courtesy of Drmego.com. If you've already won please give someone else a chance.

Here is today's question based on classic mego action figures:

I am a tv producer whose properties Mego did bring toys to stores
One was a hit, the other a total bore

Name the producer and the two properties.

Is it Garry Marshall, Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley?

Great guess but it's not Marshall (Happy Days and LS were both reported as mediocre for Mego)

              Another hint.

One property was action, the other was not.

I just read the first Prime collection and quite enjoyed it... There is actually a reason why Prime looked like such an over muscled nineties character. It's a neat twist on Shazam/Capain Marvel that would be suitable for kids of the Diary of a Wimpy kid generation.

Marvel bought the Malibu line and torpedoed it after some aborted Black Knight crossovers. I'm not sure why, but it remains buried away and I've heard legally can never return? Anybody know the facts?

The rumor I heard was they bought Malibu for their coloring process, only to shut everything down...

I always thought Malibu with it's imprints Eternity and Aircel were far better than when they did their garbage Ultraverse line. The black and white books had more interesting titles than just another stupid superhero line....Glad Marvel bought it and shelved it....
