    Favorite Christmas Comics?

I'm always a mark for any super-hero Christmas story...there's a few good compilations out there in various formats, of which I have several (digest, treasury, trade paperback, standard comic)

One of my all-time favorites though is this one:

I remember actively seeking it out at the newstand because I had previously seen a DC house ad for it and 2 other comics that month.

            Admittedly VERY Guilty pleasures...

I also have a soft spot for these ones...

Some of my all time favourite Christmas stories. A very introspective Superman Christmas story by Paul (Concrete) Chadwick. I seem to recall a silent Enemy Ace by John Byrne (I could be misremembering) and quite a nice story that featured Deadman meeting the then Out of Continuity Kara Zor-El (after complaining that no one really knows about all the good he has done given the nature of his spirit form and powers).

This one featured fantastic Phil Winslade art...

You're not misremembering...both the Byrne Enemy Ace story and the Deadman/"Supergirl" team-up were from that 2nd Christmas with the Super-Heroes issue (80s).

I enjoy those as well. After those, DC released 3 issues ( i think) of DC Universe Holiday Bash. There's a TPB out too (A DC Universe Christmas)from a few years back that collects some of the stuff from these as well as some older stuff.

One of the ones I like is the Santa Claus vs. Darkseid story from DCU Holiday Bash II (1998) by Ty Templeton.

I don't recall as much of the Marvel stuff...the one Marvel X-Mas Treasury I have (Giant Super-Hero Holiday Grab Bag from 1975) features an oddball mix of Spidey, Hulk (both non-Christmas), Nick Fury, Dr. Strange and Luke Cage.
                Sweet Christmas!

I dug out my various Christmas comics and have been reading the stories to my son at night. I've noticed something. Every Denny O'Neil Batman story has the Christmas star do the work for Batman, one way or another.

My son really loved the DCP Superman/Santa tale. That's a favorite of mine as well. I remember the original issue with the Garcia Lopez cover. Great stuff.

I really like the Superman story from the second "Christmas with the Super Heroes" comic of the 80s, where Supes stops the guy from comitting suicide and sends him to the Kents for Christmas. I don't think I'll share that with the boy just yet.

Well, not exactly a comic book, but I like the Six Million Dollar Man Christmas story album from Power Records.

But as far as Christmas comics, I'm an Archies fan.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

That is the Paul Chadwick Superman Story I was thinking about! Thanks for the reminder. I recall it being a very introspective and had a very different feeling than your normal Superman tale.

I have a soft spot for Wanted: Santa Claus Dead or Alive because it is actually included in the leatherbound Frank Miller Batman volume I own, sandwiched between Batman Year 1 and The Dark Knight Returns.
