Yeah JR Jr is definitely a fine artist, but I really don;t care for the style he's employed in the last 25 years. Once he left Amazing for the first time, his style really changed.

His dad is the essence of smooth. His pencils are just so precisely perfect you could eat off of them!

His run on the current Avengers title, put me off to the comic. in My opinion, the art was so all over the place, I could not enjoy the story at all.
Why did he change his style?

It almost looks like the figures have been photoshopped in from other stand alone work to form a cover....strange.

Jr Jr still is a great artist but with so many projects on the go the quality is suffering. A lot of his stuff looks rushed as a consequence. Having Klaus Janson inking him doesn't help either, he works best with Scott Hanna and Tom Palmer.

Maybe baby Annihilus kidnapped Johnny to tuck him in read him a bedtime story? It can get pretty lonely in the Negative Zone.

John Romita Jr. had said in some interviews he asked inkers to stop changing his art. Many inkers were trying to make it look more like his Dad's but he wants it to look different. So old Jr Jr. art will look like his Dad's. Stuff from the `90's started to look different. His style has mutated a lot. His has some Frank Miller/Walt Simonson influences but I swear his faces are like John & Sal Buscema would draw.

Here's an FF cover he did that was way better than what #600 looks like. I like his THING on the interior better tho:

See a little Buscema influence in the faces?

I'm undoubtably in the minority here, but boy am I happy that Hickman is continuing FF as a spinoff starring the kids. Hopefully by doing this they end up selling much better than if the title was called Power Pack. I'm even looking forward to this more than Hickman's return of the Torch/Fantastic Four.

Franklin had the best moment in mainstream comics this week in the pages of Fear Itself. Hickman's Fantastic Four has been a real love letter to John Byrne's stuff... Between picking up on Nathanial Richards and exploring Franklin's powers.
