Batman Flashpoint

I'm generally not following most of the Flashpoint crossovers, but given that this is the 100 bullets team of Azzarello and Risso, I had to pick it up.

It doesn't disappoint. This could easily stand on it's own as an elseworld's graphic novel. Great twist in terms of the Joker. It's a scenario that does pack some real emotional punch.

I kind of wish they were staying on a Batman title for the relaunch. Azzerello tends to do this one gritty noir flavoir well, and I can't see it really translating into Wonder Woman.

I'm sure DC will! That's what I've been waiting on! Same as for Marvel's Fear story line! waiting for the TB!

Since it's only 3 issues, it would be interesting to see what other books this gets paired with when it does get collected. Particularly the way these crossovers have gone in the past few years. It sometimes seems kind of random.

I think the big two put out trade paperbacks for just about anything these days. "Floppies" will likely go the way of the dodo bird someday...!

I heard 5 trades collecting all the Flashpoint minis. But I'll wait & pick'em up cheap this fall in the clearance bins. I see stacks on the racks still at the local shops. After the buzz ends, those'll be joining their Secret Invasion & Final Crisis bretheren at 2/$1.00.

I think floppies will still be around, but will be considered limited edition collectible objects more and more (particularly as printing and paper costs escalate) with actual readership migrating to digital for their weekly fix.

So quick spoiler alert then....


The dynamic in this mini is that Only Bruce died. Thomas takes his grief out by killing Joe Chill rather brutally (vs humanely as he initially intended with an injection). Martha goes out of her mind with grief and becomes the Joker. It's rather gut wrenching in the third issue. Not really finding much of the Flashpoint stuff that engaging, but the third issue twist on this one was good.
