Agreed. I know why they use the "texture". It's still weird. It will be nice when CGI progresses to a point that bitmapping won't be a problem.
Love the "S". Very Golden Age feel. They could take about 3 ft. off the length of the cape and it would be perfect.
    Hey! Check out the pictures.

Looks a LOT better than I expected, love the classic S Shield and the George Reeves style hair. At least its not the Jim Lee armored look.

Not crazy with the overly textured outfit, but the basic appearance of Superman looks very good to me. At least he doesn't look "sensitive" anymore. He looks like he actually wants to kick someone's arse. Overall a good first impression.

It would have to be horrible to even ruffle me a tad.

          This is far from horrible.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. Do NOT like the dark colors and Aquaman scales. Other than that it's fine.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

My first impression is much better than when I first saw Routh in his Returns costume. It seems like they switched it up and made the blue darker and the red lighter. Like I said before, reminds me of the Fleischer toons. The "S" symbol almost looks like the Earth 2 Superman!

That guy really does look like Superman. It's interesting you can't tell if he's got trunks on or not... maybe some fear of more fanboy whining or maybe they're considering walking back doing away with the shorts. The texture on the suit is overdone, but I think a lot of those things are done now because they're trying to show off for HD. The colors are a little desaturated for my taste, but that could just be the lighting.

                Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic.

While I'd prefer the suit look like Superman's costume did in the comics from the late 40s through the new reboot, I can deal with this. Looks like Superman to me. Cape should be shorter, though. He's not Batman. Cape should stop at his calves in my opinion. But again, better than what I expected. I thought we'd see the redesign. I guess we'll get to wait for the sequel for that. lol.

^I'd be surprised if the redesign is still around by the time this movie finally makes it into theaters.

I think suit is ok in the same way the Spidey suit is ok. I'm not liking his bouffant hair style, it should have been more thinned out.

Taking another look, I admit I actually like the darker blues and the 40s-style "S". But the digital effects are to blame for this overtexturing, right? Is there anyone in that realm here who can explain why for the rest of us?

I think it has to do with the tendency of CGI to pixelate during quick action sequences.

I just noticed. If you slapped a goatee on him it would look like Steve Reeves as Superman.
