Fishburne as Perry White in Man of Steel

Not quite as big as the new Ultimate Spidey being half Hispanic and half African American, but still significant, but the L.A. Times is reporting that Laurence Fishburne has earned the role of Perry White in the forthcoming Superman film.

Makes one wonder if Perry might also be African-American in the DCnU?

This sounds to me like they are copycat-casting. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury over at Marvel = Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. Fishburne is a great actor but he could be cast as many other characters.

Hey, back in '02 I said more than one I thought Samuel L. Jackson would make an interesting Perry White, so I can see this.

Cool casting manuever. Fishburne is an interesting choice for Perry, though anyone over fifty could play him. Had they gone this route, Fishburne would have made a badass Braniac, the Geoff Johns version anyway. So we've got Costner, Crowe and Fishburne. That's a strange mix that may work.
