Green Lantern 2 is already set up perfectly. The origin story is out of the way, and Sinestro put on the yellow ring. Now let him set up his yellow Lantern Corps...and bring up the EPIC Space Battles! That's where this series belongs.

I'm happy GL will get a sequel. But I'm not sure Warner Brothers is quite getting it. I don't think Captain America was dark and gritty. I think people just wanted Hal to be more heroic.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Good news on the sequel, but yeah, how Poochie-like them to say "edgy and dark". I'm surprised he left out "extreme".
Cap was NOT dark. It was about heroism and optimism in VERY dark times. It was downright uplifting!!!

THey might make it, but I bet it will be with a lot of Hulk like retooling, different director and cast. As of right now its made 114 million domestic and 40 international gross. So that means that WB's take is a lot less than that. Just going off the first weekend numbers is short sighted, a lot of movies do well the first weekend than sink like a stone, just ask Harry Potter.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. Don't forget DVD & Bluray sales. Sometimes that can really turn things around for a movie. That's what happened with the first Matrix. Not that I'm saying that GL is anywhere close to the quality of the first Matrix.

And don't forget the toy sales either. Those were so successful they were mentioned in the company's quarterly financial report. Trust me Thunderbolt. Their investment is in the black. They just didn't get as much from ticket receipts as they would have liked to. What they did realize there is a big market for Lantern. I still think it's because of what I've been consistently saying since before the film was ever released. Box office isn't the main attraction for WB, it's just one of their brands. They'll make more on licensing and advertising if they keep building the GL brand - they basically can't loose.Comment

Interesting... break even on the box office. Make money on the merchandising, DVD/Bluray, digital downloads etc.
Note that they are doing Ghost Rider 2... I'm assuming because the first Nick Cage movie plays perpetually on cable (just like the first Swamp Thing eventually led to a direct video Swamp Thing 2 and cable TV show)Comment
