I just watched all 6 episodes and WOW...THAT'S how you get a grown man to love a cartoon. All of the stuff I grew up with has aged horribly, but this was just REALLY good.

And I agree with Thor as far as Voltron is concerned. While that was my favorite franchise growing up, the new cartoon is just bleh.....

Really? It's beautifully done and stands out from a lot of currently airing cartoons. What animation style would you have preferred?

I like it. i dig the serialized nature of it and the fact that they actually kill things instead of just fighting them with no one getting hurt. the kit and kat characters are rather annoying but then they always were. at least Snarf plays a much downsized role in the new version

I miss the old look. Not the same, its lacking what endeared the series to us.

I can watch the original on Teletoon Retro whenever I want. I still love it but the stories make me roll my eyes sometimes. I love the animation and character designs of the original a lot.

The new show is so different you can't compare them.

                Hmmmm....

I know a lot of folks who absolutely love it. I was kinda lukewarm on it for much the same reasosn everyone else liked it: they retooled it into a more "serious" show, which means they made it more like everything else. I really liked the original, although I make no real argument for it's overall quality: it was a pretty standard 80's cartoon, although having rewathed it recently I noticed it SEEMED to have a lot of back story. Now, I have no idea if it was intentional or not; but there were some ideas that got missed in the new one. The big one being that originally Thundera was definitely a utopia. The new one starts on Third Earth and is a standard pseudo-Medieval society complete with street urchins and an underclass. That does make it easier to write, and for a lot of folks the idea of a perfect, altruistic society feels kinda "kiddish;" but it was such a core of a series that really didn't have that many elements that removing it seems wasteful.
