Why did DC stop releasing animated classics?

I suppose it's the terrible economy, but I really would like them to finish the Super Friends series as well as the Filmation DC stuff. I really need The Adventures of Batman from the 60's on DVD.

    When are they coming?

I really wanted the 68 Batman series. And the rest of the Superman cartoons. Maybe the line didn't do well.

I bet we see these in the Warner Archive line, which is made to order. I mean if stuff like Funky Phantom can get a DVD release, you'd think anything with Superman and Batman could make it there.

With Batman and Superman films coming out in the next two summers maybe those will be released. Warners tends to release things to take advantage of the film's exposure.

You can find bootleg copies of most of those cartoons through google searches. Not the greatest quality, but still fun to watch.

          Hmmmm....

I suspect there's a touch of not wanting to confuse the market as well. It's a bit of a twist to go from movie growly Batman to the Superfriends one. The execs might see them as competition for each other, especially if their goal is the 18+ crowd.

WB execs are idiots and really think very little of the intellegence of the audience.

68 Batman is available officially on Zune which you can you watch right on your TV if you have an Xbox 360. The quality is 10x better than bootlegs. I know you can download whatever you buy on Zune but don't know if you could then burn to them DVD's.
